Alright. PSA: I'm already very on the fence about gen-AI image slop on Voresky, but if you're using it to impersonate someone else's OC, you're gone. Like, double strike. Don't impersonate other people's OC. At best that's copyright infringement. At worst that's being a ghoul.
If your character profiles use AI art, how do I know your path descriptions aren’t written by AI as well? Don’t think I’ll be interacting with anymore AI art characters. Please don’t make proposals or poke me if you use AI.

Some more thoughts on this one. I went and checked the codebase. I THOUGHT I fully wired up the blocking feature there, turns out I didn't. Sorry. Doing this right now. While it prevents future interactions, it doesn't stop existing ones. That's on me, I missed the mark here. I'll fix it ASAP.

They don't care about any limits, they want you permanently. They'll even go to lengths of if they Perma your pet, they'll say they HAVE to perma you too
We've reached the point where I'm going to need some help with Voresky. The immediate matter is to be able to test bug fixes and new features. Instead of always just pushing to production, I have created a staging environment, and I can invite people to it. I have created a Discord server too. 1/2

PSA: I have been informed that Bluesky app passwords totally work on Voresky. I didn't even think about it. These are easily revoked, so feel free to just use them instead of your actual account password if you don't like the security risk! I'll update the docs accordingly.

Finally found the rootcause for the site being super slow, and of course it's a very stupid bug. Pushing a hotfix as fast as I can...
Alright. Time for a little 4am thread. As I wrote in the about page, I started Voresky as a joke. "Hey guys, it'd be fun if we could do this, right?" And then, as I kept spooling it up, playing with a few friends on it, I started to realize that "Hey it's... actually viable...? Cool!"

My DMs right now: "HEY VORESKY IS BEING SLOW TO LOA-" Yep, I know. Rootcause is, I built it a little bit too fast, and didn't try caching anything yet. Any profile enrichment is hitting the database directly at the moment. AND I WASN'T EXPECTING SO MANY OF YOU TO USE IT TO BROWSE BLUESKY omg.
If anyone is mostly prey on Voresky like me you can be in multiple bellies at once by enabling them to use universes. Its off by default but if you go into your character settings you can turn it on and even restrict specific universes so that you cant be grabbed in those.
Okay! Megathread for all the info anyone could want about voresky! Because it's a cool site but I feel like a lot of things are not immediately obvious. Each reply to this is gonna be a short thread on something basic about the site, with alt text in most of the images including extra explanations.
Alright, it is time to push this new auth flow. The userbase is now at 500+ and growing, and the Bluesky API rate limit is extremely close to display errors on people's feed. This unfortunately means people will be kicked out, and will need to re-authenticate, since the auth backend changed.
