I built a capacitive touch instrument using pewter cast fungi embedded into a log. It uses a spoke-mini and runs Circuitpython to handle the MIDI. #CircuitPyhtonDay2026

announcing: picodevil, my new tool for livecoding visuals by chopping up video with patterns picodevil.com
picodevil
picodevil is here to help you livecode visuals! let's chop up some videos with patterns!

I created a new free web tool for my SPOKE board that lets you configure exactly what each touch sensor does without the need to go near the code. Set individual pins to be midi notes or chords or cc inputs or have them be keyboard or mouse commands. www.spokeboard.com/play
Seems like 2026 is the year the "Climate change will manifest as a series of disasters viewed through phones with footage that gets closer and closer to where you live until you're the one filming it" post lands for everyone.
SPOKE got a 9/10 review in the latest Official Raspberry Pi magazine! Plus they interviewed me about my work and projects. It's a massive honour to be recognised by them. SPOKE wouldn't even exist without their products and dedication to open source knowledge and hardware.
An oldie, chopped into a mini. Trying that whole marketing scam of an enticing title that doesn't make sense unless you watch the whole clip. But also, I built SPOKE to make my own creative life easier. Then quickly decided everyone elses creative life should also be easier.
Count Binface has the chance to do the funniest thing ever.
Using SPOKE to turn the SPOKE artwork into a playable musical instrument.
Thank you Les!
This week I've been building a custom media playback controller with SPOKE. Powered by the RP2040, SPOKE is a capacitive touch controller that can be used to make music, control art and interact with your computer. learn.pimoroni.com/article/spok... www.youtube.com/shorts/9APfa...
I've just opened the box and plugged in SPOKE for the first time and somehow I made the beat from the Sega MegaDrive game Streets of Rage title screen. Anyway. I'm tinkering with this today, full write up will be on Pimoroni very soon. youtube.com/shorts/9APfa... shop.pimoroni.com/products/spo...
This has been a quixotic quest for no reason other than to see if i could do it, but I did do it: I've created a ceramic circuit board with copper traces that I can solder components to. Here's a little astable multivibrator circuit running on stoneware.
My SPOKE-mini solder yourself kit is now up at @pimoroni.com Use it to turn a rpi pico into a 26 pin capacitive touchboard and embed it inside projects, musical instruments, games controllers, interactive artworks, accessibility devices, all sorts! shop.pimoroni.com/products/spo...
Built a transparent midi controller using the SPOKE-MINI to show off how to connect upholstery nails to the board. Super simple and reeeeaaaaally nice tactile touch sensors.
seen it linked a few times, and finally read it. yes, this article is a good summary of where we're at with trans rights in the UK: www.liberalcurrents.com/the-end-of-t...
The End of Trans Rights in the UK Is the Start of Democratic Collapse
It's never just one minority.

Wishing my mate Sam all the luck in the world performing tonight at Eurovision! I'm not especially patriotic, but he's a great representative of proper British eccentrics.
Available only at Pimoroni shop.pimoroni.com/products/spo...
These are just some of the things already built with the SPOKE board. Super easy touch sensing for creative projects. www.spokeboard.com
SPOKE can easily be coded to work in a bunch of different modes. Or a combination of different ones. Or completely new ones we hadn't thought about yet as it's all run in #Circuitpython www.spokeboard.com for more info!

I've taken up an editing role over at OpenBoardsGuide.com. This is the first article I've had a hand in, and it would mean a lot to get your feedback. If you are afraid of being too mean publicly, roast me via whatever contact method you have for me. www.openboardsguide.com/pimoroni-bad...

Added some new Visualisers for the SPOKE midi pages. This will work with any MIDI controller, OR just tap the screen to get randomised notes! www.spokeboard.com
Sams enamel pins work great as a touch sensors on SPOKE boards. Anyone else excited for his EuroVision act?
I'm super excited about some of the web-based tools I've come up with for SPOKE. Here is a video demonstrating the Web-Based IDE where you can find, edit and download #Circuitpython templates and examples straight to the SPOKE. It even handles serial messaging for debugging! youtu.be/P2Z3_H5RIxA

I have a new page for SPOKE that allows you to edit the circuitpython code on the board directly from the browser. With a bunch of templates for different modes and tools like a scale-builder that lets you choose exactly what midi note is mapped to each pin. tom-vulpes.github.io/SpokeWebMidi...
