Writer of fantasy, science fiction, and fly fishing stories. Small "L" librarian from whom your teens check out spicy romantasy. Fly fishing outfitter. He/him/whatever, right-handed lefty, Montanan. Proud enemy within.

EVOL, Sister, and Daydream Nation by Sonic Youth. Dirty, Experimental Jet Set Trash and No Star, and Washing Machine by Sonic Youth are right up there. So is Murray Street, Sonic Nurse, and Rather Ripped by... Sonic Youth. I really like Sonic Youth.

What's the best three album run from a band? (the correct answer is Moving Pictures, Signals, and Grace Under Pressure by Rush, but I'm excited to learn second place)

If there's one thing I've learned from working in libraries, it's that the interest of girls/women aged from puberty to basically dead in stories of 19yo 100lb badass heroines having adventures and kinky sexytime with 1000yo fae/vampires/werewolves CANNOT be overstated.

Finally got bit by AI, specifically in regards to my fishing business. Was looking at a competitor's site, which obviously used content "written" by AI. Some of the specific bullet points about things like streamflow and flies to use did not precisely match my terminology, but did precisely match

Scene: My 6th birthday party. Midsummer in St. Louis. All the heat & humidity that entails. My best friend had a big appetite. Running around playing. The inevitable results of all of the above. My birthday outfit (and birthday in general) ruined. I haven't had a hot dog since.

quote post with thy preferred hot dog toppings so that thou may be judged by thy peers

Welp. Platner is the asshole all the other accusations suggested he was, and the USA men's soccer team flopped. At least McConnell is probably a vegetable. There is no hell hot enough or deep enough for him.

I would like just one (1) MAGA aficionado to explain why the White House lawn is an appropriate place for a cage fight. I have seen and expect to see zero justifications for this defilement of the nation's house.

A couple years ago I was working on a story that got an extraordinarily positive response in workshops and "first page idol" panels. One editor: "Is this a novel? If so, is it done? If so, I want to see it." It wasn't a novel. It was a novella, and for some reason I stopped working on it.

I have serious doubts that the story draft I finished last night at 9159 words can be cut to 7500, especially since in my notes I mention possibly needing to add a brief scene along with all the cuts, so I'm calling it: I drafted my first novelette!

I just had the epiphany that many (and I mean many) of my stories are inspired in part by the 2005 Disney film Sky High. My stories involve magicians with seemingly-useless powers. The film involves superhero teens with seemingly-useless powers. (It is a delightful teen/family movie.)

I wonder how a candidate for high office would do campaigning under a "fuck gerrymandering" platform. I understand why it was necessary in VA (namely because Trump's buds in TX et al did it first), but Congressional districts should be set in a non-partisan fashion nationwide.

What happens with the 80s-style teenage hero couple when they break up horribly, the chosen one boy hero implodes and then eventually gets his shit together in a small way, and the girl becomes a high-level wizard with a family... ...and they have to fight an old evil together as 30-somethings?
