Once a bustling 20th-century tourist attraction, with rowing boats & a miniature pirate ship, Scarborough Mere, a natural lake) is now mainly a fishing area & tranquil haven for wildfowl (having taken over the former boat landing platforms) within the woodland of Oliver's Mount Country Park.

Ghost of a building across the tracks: the former Tesseyman's Garage (part of Scarborough's automotive & garage history through the 20th century), here in Seamer Rd., is laid bare of its cladding with just the structural steel frame visible, being readied for a new life, coming soon as a PureGym.

Restoration of the former Villa Esplanade Hotel in Scarborough's South Cliff conservation area is nearing completion. The c1840-50 gothicised stucco villa stands in a prominent position on the sea-facing Esplanade & its inward-facing monochromatic rear elevations (seen here) are equally commanding.
