Every day I log into X and see people talking about AI and SI being revolutionising and ahead of everything but no one ever says what it’s doing. All vague tones about another industrial revolution. I’ve defaulted to if it’s a blue check it’s engagement farming for Elonbucks. Same tone as NFTs were.
It’s the bi monthly “Are Pantera bad?/ I ALWAYS hated them” argument again in hardcore/metal scenes. The new development is apparently Dimebag wasn’t talented.
I’ve seen the very same people who dunked on Solo Levelling advocate for Dungeon Crawler Carl. At somepoint you gotta wonder if some people just had their brains re-arranged by twitch streamer gcse drama D&D campaigns permanently, as they’re basically the same but one is more Reddit than the other.
Wonder what in the cultural shadow is erupting as there’s been a fascination with shieldbiter berserkers again. Interesting tho.
Been teaching myself Unreal and built this moody office scene while learning the basics of lighting, VFX, camera control, animation, cinematics, and blueprints. Wanted to make it feel convincingly cluttered and lived-in, which involved placing 600+ props by hand. Sound up for maximum atmosphere.
Watching Black Hawk Down again and boy do I miss films with texture and grit. Everything is so… smooth and HD now all the time.
I resented all the bullshit Adobe have forced into Photoshop for the longest time, but the only good feature was "remove background", and now that doesnt even work. So GG everyone.
Back into Warcraft and one thing I'm getting increasingly frustrated about is the fact that the internet is turning the Alliance v Horde into an extension of the culture war. Various streamers have contributed to this, but it's spilled over into way more other stuff as a proxy for everything.
I’ve been thinking with the rise in these old school MMOs that now would be a perfect time to resurrect Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning.
It's really refreshing seeing shitey normal working class life depicted like this in a game, and a Silent Hill game no less. Pebble-dashed council flats, three-bar fires, Post Office counters, concrete shopping precincts. This must be how posh people felt playing Everybody's Gone to the Rapture.
Seeing a five quid powercard in a Silent Hill game is mangling my mind more than any of the faceless shambling horrors.
The problem with following any sort of paranormal/supernatural podcast where they describe accounts people have with the high strange is on a long enough timeline they seem to become Christian. It's like people come into contact with the more-than-human and just default to Evangelicalism.
Seeing all the absolute posers come out the woodwork to talk nonsense about the new Resi film is driving me insane. People even trying to say the Alice films were good. Maybe the film people were right we don’t deserve anything but scorn.
I’ve heard so much about Dragon Quest Online at this point it’s a shame it’s never officially released over here. Reckon I would get well addicted to that.
That new Hellraiser game looks like the spiritual successor to Condemned I’ve been searching for all these years.
One of the things I've only just realised is that the Elwynn Forest theme in WoW is pretty close to the Riddle of Steel swell from Conan The Barbarian.
Anyway it was all set to crumble eventually when they axed that Legacy of Kain: Dark Sun game.
I do wonder how many incredible games, franchises etc have been killed over the years for failing to meet unrealistic and wild expectations from investors. There's only so much time in the day, money to go around and actual people into video games at a level beyond CoD, FIFA, Fortnite etc.
Every week there's more and more evidence that the whole infrastructure of video games is on the verge of collapsing in on itself. I think it got too big, but not big enough, and too many people are trying to extract too much out of it, is really what it boils down to.
incredibly well-done resident evil teaser from a movie theater
I cannot believe folk use Premiere to edit films. Must be like trying to peel potatoes with a fork.
Looking at this the RPD would make a great Hotline Miami level.
RESIDENT EVIL 2 (1998) - RPD 2F map is nearly done 🧟 just gotta finish the parking garage. i also saw the new movie last night and liked it a lot :)
I think I realised something today. I'm tired of people calling anything that deals with bleak content, unhappy outcomes, extreme melancholy, nihilism or a dark aesthetic "edgelord". A lot of the same people who speak about stuff like this only ever play fucking Stardew Valley. Long live Grimdark.
Mate sent a video of Electric Wizard playing Manchester last night and I'm extremely jealous at how sick they sound. Opening your set with Return Trip too is some big balls too. One of your most well loved songs. Just open with it. Still the best band.
Even with that last repost I still enjoy both Last of Us games. I think the vibe carries it though. Not many games really do bleak, melancholy and misery well. What can I say, until Blood Meridian is made into a game I'll take my nihilism where I can.
While I know there is systemic understaffing, underfunding and deliberate erosion of the NHS from the top down. I’m still convinced 80% of the issue with wait times in hospitals is people being rude to staff, and the other 20% is people who are lonely and feel a pain so time waste for attention.
I suspect part of the massive hype for WoW Forever isn’t just nostalgia, but the possibility of a return to the golden era of MMOs as a possibility. I know OSRS has ran way ahead of WoW in that regard. But the idea of a game that takes its time, but also doesn’t take the piss is intoxicating.
