Hop’s walking toward him, hands behind his back. Two steps away, he stops and looks around the room.

“You all might’ve heard that Bede and I were dating,” he says. “I know some of you must be wondering, why would we ever get together? Bede’s not known for being nice to me, after all. I’ve read all of your comments. You say he’s arrogant. You say he’s petty and cruel and selfish.”

And you’re right, Bede thinks.
