new phoebe is good, but the "(reprise)" at the end makes for a weaker closer than if she had just ended on "as above" imo. "as above" does a great job of channeling "right where it belongs", too, which was a style i didn't really expect to hear out of her.
my first encounter with cops was calling them for a bne at my dad's that was done as a threat to me by my mother's bf (nothing stolen but valuables laid out and things broken). not only did they do nothing, but it just let him know he could escalate without consequence
It’s so funny when people are like “sure you’re an abolitionist now but wait until you’re the victim of a property crime.” Buddy, the most useful thing the police have ever done for property crime is put the form you need to submit to your insurance online.
Love someone enthusiastically sharing their niche interest in a novel way that makes you not just think about the work discussed more deeply but broader discussions of art and our relationship to its history. Well worth the watch.
Let's have an Odyssey party! Please give a warm welcome to Gamer Homer, who will be spending today discussing very serious literature art history topics such as translating the bing-bongs, tasteful male nudity, brain goop and the 1996 Atlantis Summer Games: youtu.be/0dRvg4Xa3zE
Smush is the better game in that it tracks more metrics than you can simultaneously pursue. It also has metrics you will naturally self-impose that it *doesn't* track and metrics that are obfuscated (e.g. "beat the robot"). It is a game; it allows and encourages play. 4x3 is just a puzzle.
me when an album i'm enjoying gets "a strong 6 to a light 7"
This is a fantastic piece of games criticism that deserves orders of magnitude more eyeballs. This is the duo's first real project under this banner, so give them the love they so clearly deserve to foster their talents. www.youtube.com/watch?v=FoWg...

To save everyone the click-throughs, the site people are using is my9games.com Honorable mention to Valkyrie Profile, Chrono Trigger, and probably a dozen other RPGs, but the list was already too dominated by them.
Hey sure why not
Loved starting the game with "yo chill".
it's one drop wednesday 😌😌 wizards is bugs
when I was first able to start buying my own cards, I loved the incredibly sophisticated deckbuilding strategy of "include every elf I own"
it's Wumpus Wednesday, show me your big honkin' blorbos 😌
Continued ecological deterioration will act as pretense for heightened tyranny as "necessary measures" in the face of disasters. I don't want to finally break our shackles to win a wasteland. The green front of the fight is at least as important as any other front.
I've heretically never really been taken with a Swans album, but this new one is really doing it for me. I think I'll be spinning it a lot.
"There are moments when life seems entirely impossible. All the crazy dreams of rebellion disappear... One knows that freedom is possible because everybody has experienced freedom: the taste of paradises is in all of our mouths. To forget this is fatal." —Spontaneous Combustion, anarchist zine '92

The point of a go-bag is that it's already made. Make sure you have your go-bag, both literally and metaphorically. Create and maintain the infrastructure you're gonna need over the next several years.
Every day I'm a broken record on here but you can take steps to mitigate paranoia - you can't eliminate it because that's not how paranoia works - but you can switch to signal, plot with friends who you've known for years and trust with your life and love, and take actions thoughtfully. ❤️🏴
Regardless of their shortcomings, I'm so glad we're seeing more films like Megalopolis or Queer that have strong identities independent of what's trending as "successful". Keep letting people make weird shit that steps on a few rakes. It's a lot more interesting.
Shout out to the new Food Not Bombs chapter in Worcester, Mass! These folks came down to hang out with & help us for a few months & now they have their own weekly gig up & running! Your friends in Waltham are very proud of your efforts!🥰✌️
Pilot Quest might be the only game I know whose core loop steadily shifts from one genre to an entirely different one as you play through it. The strangest way I've ever seen a hybridization of genres done. Just a constant gradient over its runtime.
@jeremybjayne.bsky.social I imagine you're already time-constrained, but I'd love to see you regularly do fat sessions for indie horror titles when they release. My anxiety has always prevented me from engaging in much horror (any medium), but I've never minded watching others play horror games.
@acollierastro.bsky.social Edmund McMillen shared the video where you played Isaac. Fun lil full-circle moment I suppose.
crimethinc.com/zines/green-... We've prepared a zine version of "Green Scared?"—our analysis of the FBI crackdown on ecological direct action. This summarizes everything we can learn from the strategy of the police and prosecutors, passing on the lessons to the next generation of eco-activists.
