I think my friends who are POC will understand this. Two things are true at the same time. Nothing is more American than protest. Nothing is more American than the white supremacy and misogyny people are gathering today to protest. Both are true.

90 years ago, Social Security became a reality. With it, a promise. That every American could retire with dignity. That no senior should be forced to live in abject poverty. So when Republicans talk of privatizing it, or stripping it away, let me be clear: that’s a betrayal we won't allow.

90 years ago today, Social Security was signed into law, creating a safety net for elderly Americans - It promised economic security as they grow older. I’m determined to protect that promise against the threats from Donald Trump’s administration. We owe it to our country.

Every time a Republican is accused of breaking the law, they appoint a Republican special counsel because of the fear a Democrat would have an axe to grind, but then if a Democrat is accused, they appoint a Republican to avoid the appearance of going to easy on the person being investigated.

It is worth noting that Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who led the investigation, was a registered Republican. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who appointed Mueller to the position, was also a registered Republican
