In fifteen years, the UK has deleted coal power from their power system, halved fossil gas use, replaced most of that with wind and solar, and the country has not suffered the hellish blackout apocalypse conservatives and media outlets promised would happen. ember-energy.org/data/electri...

Stacked area chart showing UK electricity generation (terawatt‑hours) from 2000–2025, highlighting a steep fall in coal, declining gas and nuclear, and steady growth in wind, solar and other renewables over time.

1. This New York Post cover: “Thousands of 9/11 families demand Mamdani be banned from 25th-Anniversary” is a brazen lie. How do I know? I interviewed the organizer of the petition.

The University of Chicago Press held its launch meeting for my book today. Respectability Politics will be out Summer 2027, with a cover featuring original letterpress work by the artist Amos Kennedy, Jr. whose work I greatly admire! So excited to share this book with y’all. I’m really proud of it.

I wonder if any reporters have asked Olive Garden to share their reaction to various elected officials telling the public that they can't eat there without photo ID.

1. Trump just signed a landmark nuclear deal with Saudi Arabia, paving the way for the Saudis to enrich their own uranium. Meanwhile, Trump's top foreign policy advisor, Jared Kushner, is being paid tens of millions of dollars anually by the Saudis That fact was IGNORED in almost all the coverage

On May 26, a healthcare executive received a letter from the FDA that created an existential legal crisis for his company — and his career. Days later, he sent $1 million to MAGA Inc. (1/2)

And some of us are neither naturalized citizens or 14th amendment birthright citizens…for those of us born abroad to an American parent, our citizenship is not even in the Constitution, it is based only in statute.

I see a lot of “so-and-so is a birthright citizen” because their parents weren’t citizens when they were born on American soil. But the truth is, we’re all birthright citizens, unless we have been naturalized.

This is a great example of what's called "pluralistic ignorance" -- the phenomenon whereby most people share a particular view, but they *don't think other people share it*. In this case: most people are concerned about climate change but think others aren't.

Over 50% of Americans say climate change is a serious threat; only 10% think their compatriots feel the same

That perception gap on the issue is among the highest in the world, per a new Gallup poll....

The JCPOA, which Trump called "the worst deal ever," ONLY lifted nuclear-related sanctions on Iran. Sanctions for human rights violations, terrorism, and its missile program ALL remained. Trump is promising to end ALL SANCTIONS, even those imposed by international bodies. Victory for Iran.

The United States of America undertakes to terminate all types of sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran, including the United Nations Security Council resolutions.

IAEA Board of Governors resolutions, all unilateral US sanctions, primary and secondary in an agreed upon schedule as part of the final deal. The Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America acknowledge the critical importance of the sanctions termination issue above mentioned, and expressed their intentions to immediately address these issues in the negotiations in order to achieve mutual agreement on them.

Trump completely capitulated to the Iranians. I did not have a big enough imagination to believe we would sign a deal respecting theocratic dictatorship and then giving those killers billions and billions to strengthen their autocratic repression
