I sat in SCIFs where analysts were trying to identify new madrassas to spy on by tracking nearby goat herding patterns. It was a gold rush for ambitious policy entrepreneurs.

The broth is super easy. Boil 4 pieces of kombu w/ dried shiitakes, 2 carrots, 2 cloves garlic, 1 shallot. Remove kombu (julienne as a side), blend the rest until perfectly smooth. Separately, mix 1/4 cup tahini w/ 1/4 cup miso, add 1 tsp. mirin & rice wine vinegar. Mix with broth right in the bowl.
