If you’re a Gondorian soldier your experience with hobbits is a tiny guy shows up with a wizard and is immediately taken in the Steward’s counsel. He saves Faramir when the Steward goes mad. A second tiny guy arrives with the Rohirrim and kills the Witch King. The first one then goes on campaign …

Recently, I’ve seen loads of shortform video using that “Tonight will be the night I fall for you” song when talking about 00’s emo and every time I’ve been deeply confused because like… how did I miss this track? Came out after my taste had expanded. It’s literally too recent for my nostalgia.

am i allowed to talk about how weird it is that the main way liberals philantropize trans people is by donating money to liberal nonprofits for call centers that beg us not to kill ourselves, instead of directly funding our material needs which, when deprived, lead to suicidality? is that allowed?

Sorry i meant to say we need more celebrities to donate $100 million to suicide hotlines so we can call someone who will beg us not to kill ourselves when the state takes away our medication and housing, and then send the cops to our home if we say the wrong series of words. My bad.

*standing up on the plane* Call me Ishmael. Some years ago--never mind how long precisely--having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me on shore, I thought I would sail about a little and see the watery part of the world. It is a way I have of driving off the spleen

So I finished Penance and holy *shit* that book is something else. Impressive variety of very well observed voices, deeply believably and resonant characters and a scenario that feels like it could have happened in my social circle in 2006, with just a tiny little push. I can picture every character

Wile E. Coyote, despaired, takes a bucket of paint and a brush and paints a beautiful two-bedroom house on a mountainside. He paints a beautiful coyote wife in the window, and two adorable coyote kids running around in the yard. He tries to enter this new coyote life, but it is inaccessible to him

Made the mistake of reading about the murder of Billie-Jo Jenkins and now I’m incredibly angry again. (I’m reading Penance and it was hitting very close to home. Like, that murder happened so very close to where I grew up)
