For the record: I’ve worked in rural Australia (when I was much younger than now). I’ve herded sheep and cattle (and horses), shot vermin, attended to cows and ewes with difficult births, maintained fences etc. There are true disconnections with rural and city life. Neither is uniquely virtuous.🤷♂️
They don’t care. White, black or brindle: it’s the exploitation that counts. The thing I *still* can’t get over, though, even decades later, is the sexual exploitation and sometimes dead-set rape of so very *many* girls and women. Which we were forbidden from doing anything about 😡🤬
