My younger sister does blue collar work and doesn’t really know computers so I got an SOS from her that she couldn’t find evidence of the existence of our favorite childhood video game. In googling it for her I discovered that the 1993 Wacky World of Mini Golf game starred Eugene Levy.

After many years of following the biggest dude walking with purpose through post-game meanderers, I finally got to return the favor to two large tattooed and bearded dudes who thanked me after they used my crowd wake to get to the front of the red line train in time.
Did not check to see if the green line was experiencing massive delays before heading out to the Nats game and that’s on me.
This change seems insane to me and will absolutely make my life much harder but I realize most people don’t keep mental maps of cities in their head.
Metro is rolling out new signage at each rail station in an attempt to make it easier for customers to navigate D.C. But riders pushed back on social media, saying the new signs are less intuitive and make information harder to find.
Got distracted by some fairly large (for early autumn) starling murmurations
Hard to think of a better way to spend a Friday night
I’ve been to 30 Nats games this season with an 11-19 record. They’ve just disgraced themselves in CA. They’re playing the Angels. It’s September. I am somehow just as excited to go to the Park today as I was opening day. My brain should be studied in a lab for this sickness.

I am definitely in the minority of fans in feeling like last year’s bullpen was worse, but inarguably this year’s bullpen has had a much larger negative impact on the team record. Anyway, enjoyed this article (and I’m excited about the Sun in general).
For the @washingtonsun.bsky.social (!) ... I wrote about the blown saves record as the product of an interrupted growth curve. That doesn't absolve the Nationals of the bullpen they've run out this year. But it feels like necessary context for the whole thing: washingtonsun.com/sports/natio...
A bit of a kick in the teeth to be sitting in a Smithsonian and reading today’s news about the institution.
I’ve given the CYM that opened last month a fair shake because surely most of the DMV area can’t be so wrong. But yeah, the bagels are terrible (and often burnt) and I’ve had hotel buffet eggs with more flavor. Can’t believe I lost my local deli and their bulgogi breakfast burritos for this.
I knew a lot of Stuyvesant kids who were there on 9/11 and were already experiencing weird extreme health conditions as soon as 2003 and finding out they were poisoned at school breathing air we were all told was safe is the first thing I remember about 9/11 25 years on.
One man’s fight to commemorate the 9/11 health disasters that, for many responders, have never ended.
Last Friday of the year hanging out on the rooftop pool listening to the free Friday night concert in the street below. Summer is the best and never lasts long enough.
The STC is having a Labor Day sale, so I’m buying some tickets and I have to say I am delighted about the emergence of Ben Turner as a regular as it solves the biggest complaint I’ve had about productions -one big guest actor making all the other actors seem pedestrian by comparison. He’s fantastic.
Extremely funny to me that I have lived more of my life outside of Pennsylvania than in it at this point and have minimal dialect slippage. I lived for 5 years in SLC and that’s the place I sound least like! I think childhood accent retention is supposed to be a sign of stubbornness (guilty).
The feminist movement that Steinem did much to mainstream and expand is in retreat, with women’s rights and status eroding conspicuously, and I’d like the usual suspects to consider this before they go on their ahistorical little rants about how she was a CIA stooge or whatever.
Breaking News: Gloria Steinem, the feminist crusader who galvanized the modern women’s movement, challenged sexist assumptions and fought for gender equality, has died at 92. nyti.ms/4cVollO
I used to sound like such a crank 15 years ago when I refused to switch to non-physical media on the basis it’s just renting from companies -I remember one guy looking at my bookshelves and asking if I had ever heard of e-books. Still buy things on DVD and CD/records too. Now I’m vindicated.
Sony has responded to a digital games lawsuit by arguing that players don't actually own the games they buy Its lawyers say they are licensed rather than sold
Early birthday present for myself secured with a NWSL Final ticket. Now the Spirit have to do their part and make it to the semifinal on my actual birthday weekend. Alas, between renewals and playoff tickets my September budget is the wint tweet, but sporting events(not candles).
The regulars in my section are futilely booing and shaming the wave participants.
Ladies in my section put on fake mustaches and t-shirts with men’s torsos on them and did a little counter chant to the desultory Tarps Off crew
Dude on the metro passed a bunch of empty seats to try to cut in front of me and grab the (non-priority) seat I was taking and then got mad when I successfully boxed him out. I lived in a non-queue culture, if you try to cut in front of me unfairly I will hip check you into another dimension.
It only took until August 27th, but the Nats finally won a weekday 1:05 game with me in attendance.
Rescuer: Ok, we’re sending in the cyborg cockroaches now. Me, coughing blood: You know, on second thought, I’m good where I am thanks.

A Scranton kid! I grew up going to Wilkes-Barre Scranton Red Baron games. For me, this mostly inculcated an interest in WWI aviation but the baseball interest came along later.
Rather than be sad about Dolly at home, decided to be sad in a group watching post trade deadline Nats. I may have cried on the bus, metro, and once at my seat (not Nats performance related).
