I love both the flavor and the looks of these fish peppers. But now I'm impatiently waiting for them to ripen 🌱

Our wonderful neighbor gave us a few dozen ears of corn this morning, so he's getting a few jars of corn soup tomorrow 🌱🍽️🌽
Neighbor told us to come over and pick as many pears from his tree as we could and all he asked for in return is some jam. We got 153 lbs of pears and there's probably another 150 still on the tree 😅 He also gave us 3 more cantaloupe (and 4 more overripe ones we fed to the chickens). 🌱
Another 90 lbs before the rain (hopefully) comes tomorrow 🌱🍅
Hearty bagel sandwich for brunch, everything but the bagel and shredded cheese from the backyard 🌱🍽️🍅🫑🌶️🧅🥓 #SmallFarmLife
We had to do a taste test of some of the varieties we harvested this morning. Black Cherry, as always, won 🌱🍽️ Clockwise from top left: Amish Paste, Beefsteak Yellow, Roma, Carolina Gold, Black Cherry, Aunt Ruby's Green Striped, Weisnicht’s Ukranian, Mystery Cherry, San Marzano, Better Boy
12yo has been (im)patiently waiting for the first watermelon to ripen 🌱
First figs of the season, looking forward to about a gazillion more 🌱🍽️
100 lbs of maters from the garden this morning. Some are ready now, some need a few more days to ripen. We'll be saucing and canning soon 🍅🌱
That flower logo, BTW, was a nod to BP wanting to move into crop-based biofuels. Thankfully, these remain a tiny % of BP’s overall production & they have shut plants down over the years. Unfortunately, wind & solar also have remained a tiny % and BP production is basically all still fossil fuels.
Remember “beyond petroleum?” With this move they shrug off the last vestige of the era when change at least looked like it could have happened.

Birthday boy wanted a 3-layer cake: chocolate sandwiched between funfetti layers, with mixed berry jam in between. Who am I to say no? 🍽️🎂
Life is hard enough already, why the fuck do so many people have to be hateful when it's so much better for everyone to be kind? Ugh. Appreciate hanging with you lot, being horrified by the horrors together. (It is good to not be alone with them.) There are more of us than there are of them.
I came in from work to the smell of tomato soup cooking down with fresh herbs from the garden and rabbit stock. Smokin hot partner who processes rabbits and makes delicious soups? Yeah I'm the luckiest dude in the world. 🌱🍅🍽️🐇 #SmallFarmLife
Time for more pickles and tomato soup. The kids will probably eat all these cantaloupes by Tuesday 😅🌱
Finally got around to listening to this while making pizzas tonight. Great stuff and fun to listen to songs from artists not normally on my playlists. Give Ian's show a spin, if you don't like it you can get your money back!

Hunger is a policy choice. Or, as we have seen during 2025-26, policy choice after policy choice after policy choice.
The One Big Beautiful Bill was signed on July 4, 2025, approving a spending bill that contained historic changes to the food assistance program. Since then, over 4 million fewer people are enrolled in SNAP.

I think the cucuzza squash did alright while we went on a mini vacay 🌱

Way easier than digging and storing and replanting tubers. Not as flashy but still beautiful and they still attract the pollinators 🌱
Welp I guess we're now getting into growing dahlias from seed... 🌱
5yo, after blowing a fly out of his nose that had flown up there: Dad, have you ever had a fly fly up your nose? Me: I don't know, if I did I can't remember 5yo: Why, because you're so OLD?
The Speckled Sussex hens (the brown and white lady in the front) are probably my favorite - they are the most friendly and curious of the group, and aren't snappy when they're broody. #SmallFarmLife 🐔
