Just tried to change my password on the website of a very big UK telecoms company and it said the password I put in the confirmation box did not match what I'd set as my new password, even though I had copy/pasted. It turned out it was because the new password contained a single quote character.

I spent a day troubleshooting DFSR with Claude and it gave me lots of interesting advice and analysis but none of it fixed the problem. I eventually ran out of tokens (free tier), and was pretty close to just sucking it up and buying a subscription. But then I decided to go old school.. /1

Why did you make this mistake? "Because I looked at a file where it was done correctly but decided to just do something else" is a weird answer.
