Noticing some folks seem to think writers just say clever things without understanding how the world works, as if we're all naifs who just happen to be good with words instead of people with formal educations and a professional interest verging on requirement in the ability to conduct research

THIS. People educated enough in the specific subject to pull the data together don’t need LLMs; people without the knowledge to weed data from the bullshit are at the mercy of the LLM. They’re obsequious Dunning-Kruger machines. Designed to flatter midwits and the technologically obsolete.

I feel this deeply. Unfortunately, the revisions don't go down because your heightened standards might make you better at revising your draft. You will also obsess of single sentences more.

Some days I miss farting out endless paragraphs of guff as a baby writer - the freedom, the innocence, etc etc
