The Lesser Scaup at Clifford Hill today was a county tick for me. I was away in Australia when the Ditchford bird was around. Miserable in the wind and rain, but still a delight to see. Great find by Tyler Atkinson. #northantsbirds
With news of Common Scoter at other sites in Northants I had to make a visit to Titchmarsh NR, despite the rain. Rewarded with 3 drakes on Town lake. The first Feb site record since 1975! Drake Ring-necked Duck made an appearance on the reserve. Heavy rain so not great for photos #northantsbirds
The light was not great today for photographing Crossbills, but did manage a few shots of 16 birds at Wakerley Woods at midday. A long walk before finding them. #northantsbirds
Pleased to find this drake American Wigeon at Titchmarsh NR today. A patch tick for me! #Northantsbirds
Couldn't resist the Red-tailed Shrike any longer, so made the trip to Suffolk yesterday. Such a showy and entertaining bird.
Cropped photos of the American Golden Plover in Northants today. Unusual bobbing action illustrated in the video. #northantsbirds
Was hoping the heavy showers might drop a Sandwich Tern into Titchmarsh NR, but wasn't expecting a Kittiwake. A group of c10 3rd summer LBbGs arrived and I then realised a Kittiwake had also dropped in. Landed once before the larger gulls chased it off. A very odd date for one. #northantsbirds
Looking thru my recent videos reminded me of the dark billed tern I saw briefly at IL&M in April. Common Terns can be quite variable. #northantsbirds
Three Turnstone at Titchmarsh NR this morning. Continuing our run of good wader records. Ringed Plover was also first for the year. #northantsbirds
White-winged Tern through the heat haze at Summer Leys this morning. Cracking bird. #northantsbirds
Grey Plover at Titchmarsh NR this morning. Unfortunately, distance and heat haze meant no photographs. First here since 2022. Water Rail more obliging, and Whimbrel still present. #northantsbirds
Impressive group of 15 Ruff dropped down at Titchmarsh NR this morning. Largest flock here for 40 years! With a Spotted Redshank yesterday, we are on a bit of a roll. #northantsbirds
The best I could manage of two Dotterel at Harrington AF this morning. Distance and heat haze a problem. #northantsbirds
Two of the three Spotted Redshanks at Lower Barnwell Flood from this morning. My first in Northants for a couple of years. Great find by John Hunt. #northantsbirds

The Ring-necked Duck was again at @wildlifebcn.bsky.social Titchmarsh NR today. The first day this week that I've been over to look. #northantsbirds
Found a very smart Ring-necked Duck @wildlifebcn.bsky.social Titchmarsh NR this afternoon. The 7th record for the reserve and has now been recorded for 5 years in a row. ##northantsbirds

Super Smew duo at Ravensthorpe Res yesterday (no sign today, unfortunately) @birdguides.bsky.social #Northantsbirds
Sometimes you have to wander off patch. Booted Eagle from Marazion bypass this afternoon. Hoping it makes it down to the Lizard soon.
