#Brambles ripe in Scotland yet? "In very dry conditions, hedgerow plants & trees get to a point where they start to panic they are either going to run out of water or die. So... they get as much fruit out as early as they can just to go through all their natural processes." ➡️https://buff.ly/bGJyWve
Blackberries 'panic' in Suffolk and ripen early due to heatwaves
Farmers say summer ripening will have knock-on effects for birds.

Thick trunk with a view? Don't mind if we do! This is beautiful Glen Lyon - home to many veteran trees. These two mature birches have developed characterful bark, textured with ridges, cracks and layers that reflect their advancing years. #ThickTrunkTuesday #VeteranTrees
Down with the daisies at Kinclaven Bluebell Wood. 😀 We love an oxe-eye daisy, don't you?
Red valerian (Centranthus ruber), Bell heather (Erica cinerea) & Bird’s-foot trefoil (Lotus corniculatus) all spotted in #Findhorn, #Moray this weekend. These dune plants have adapted to drought, wind, salt spray & shifting sands - incredible! #WildFlowerHour #ByTheSea @wildflowerhour.bsky.social
Our #Pressmennan Wood in East Lothian has a terrific array of butterflies, especially in its thistly glades. These pics were taken during a recent visit when we spotted peacock, small skipper, small copper, meadow brown, ringlet, red admiral, speckled wood, green-veined white, comma & small heath.🦋
Up close with a #Kestrel! Amazing shot by George Kelsey on the Water of Leith, Edinburgh.📷️👏 Did you know, kestrels - see UV trails to track rodents - will steal prey from barn owls - use cavities or roofs for nests Numbers have halved since 1970, so do look up!
Ready, steady, grow! 🏅🌱 With the #CommonwealthGames back in #Glasgow, we’re remembering 2014 when we planted a Commonwealth Grove at #LangCraigs Wood in Dumbarton. The trees are now flourishing - swing by for a victory lap. We think you'll be bowled over! #PunFun

The 1st of our osprey chicks has fledged! 😍 Amber took her first flight at just 55 days old. And just as importantly, her first landing back on the nest. One moment their world is the width of a double bed, the next they rule the glen. In a few weeks they will cross continents. Incredible!
Every year this sound makes us smile. 😀 The black seed-pods of broom exploding in the sun. ☀️ This year it seems to be louder than ever before - no longer a quiet 'walk in the woods'! Can you hear them snap and pop?👂️ #Nature

All hail the Gold Dust Alders! 👑 These Perthshire ancients were already woodland royalty, but dressed in a shimmering coat of Gold Dust lichen (Chrysothrix candelaris we think), they're looking positively regal. Long may they reign over the woodland! 🌳✨ #ThickTrunkTuesday #TooManyPuns 😀
Check out this giant wood wasp at our Pressmennan Wood in East Lothian! A real whopper! This beastie lays its eggs in pine trees. It may look fearsome but is harmless, with no sting.
