What’s Going On- Stories from the game development industry: Many developers believe it is not possible to get funding in 2026 without pitching a “sure thing” to investors. Do you feel this way? Are you looking to play more games that are “risky”? #IndieGameDev #GameDev #IndieGames #GamingNews

A risk-averse video game industry is failing marginalised devs

Nazih Fares has been inundated with praise when pitching 'spicy' card battler The Arab League of Misfits, so why has funding yet to materialize?

The most fucked up AI generated guitar I've ever seen. Like, idk guy looks fine, but wow couldn't get one picture of a guitar? Or at least get one that's got the right number of necks??

Through a quirk of scheduling I've seen The Odyssey twice this week (1 imax, one normal) and I can say it's a good movie that I enjoyed twice. I also don't think the imax version was experientially any different from the non-imax version.

There's one of those "What's your weirdest accomplishment" posts that I've had open for a while now contemplating sharing, but I can't figure out how to say "I did something in highschool that is still talked about by teachers today, also I shouldn't really say what it is" in an interesting way.

It's me, das my game. Well it's also @rangerhfox.com and @justonpar.bsky.social and @iraven.bsky.social game, but mine tooooo. All still early stuff (the story of making Qumaq will make for a mildly interesting YouTube video someday) but the game is gonna be cool!

@cakeneq.com's current project is Qumaq, a survival-horror-action game being made in collaboration with YK Delta writer Don Rearden. Qumaq follows the survivors of a shipwreck as they battle strange creatures, the environment, starvation on a forgotten island in the Bering Sea. #GameDev #IndieGames

I had the great joy of playing Qumaq this weekend for the first time where a whole sequence actually clicked. And then the crushing defeat of the immediate next sequence completely not working in any way.

OK folks we can chill on calling everything Slop for a little bit right? Like- I get it- applies to a lot of things, but not EVERY thing you dislike is slop right? Not saying to retire it, just take it down like 15%

Man the FROM Season 4 finale is setup to do some wild shit. This might be the best season yet. Feels like they've really mastered giving characters/events time to breathe while not feeling like everyone is waiting around for the end of the season (S2).

I'm replaying Dark Souls with Maria and I keep doing a hilarious joke where I talk up the next boss we'll fight and I get really nervous about how much it's going to take to kill it. Then I cross the fog gate and roll the chump in one try with 3/4 of my health still intact.
