But that tax revenue wouldn’t have been generated until 2029, or possibly later. They wouldn’t have started construction until ‘27 and it would’ve taken up to 2 years. This wouldn’t have solved the immediate crisis.

I think this deal blowing up is bad news for the city. The lost tax revenue will be paid for in property tax increases and budget cuts, and the city budget is nearing crisis levels. I wrote about why we need to rethink our approach a few days ago here: tcbmag.com/some-data-ce...

I got into an online fight on Reddit over closures on Nicollet and I’ll do it again. This crap is disruptive and annoying, especially during the work week. Often times, riders have no advance notice. They find out as their bus is detouring, or arriving at their station and seeing one of these signs

Ongoing trend that is making most US cities even worse. Every new coffee shop or fast food place is drive thru only. You never have to leave your house or car for anything, and that’s exactly what a lot of people want. I’ll never get it. It seems miserable to live that way.

I already don’t like Tesla, but I think I would feel this way no matter what. Who the fuck designed the Cybercab? It looks really annoying and awkward to enter or exit. And it only seats 2 people.

It takes you 20 paragraphs to get to the part of the article where they admit that Mamdani isn't paying the influencers and the reason they are posting videos of the stuff Mamdani is doing is because people are interested in watching it.

The mayor’s office says that it does not pay the influencers. Still, their proximity and access to a figure as popular as Mr. Mamdani can help increase their own social media following and, by extension, potentially put them in a position to attract paid content sponsorships from commercial brands. Some influencers said that when they feature Mr. Mamdani, the videos get more likes and viewers watch longer.
