i don’t think we talk enough about the audacity of america taking the word tomahawk from the people it colonised and using the name for missiles it uses when colonising elsewhere
as someone who edits these manuscripts for a living, i don’t even know where to begin with this
The end result is just this, for every text, forever. (Yes, this is a real abstract from Nature magazine, I think it’s still up online).
I finally lost my shit about so-called AIs, LLMs, enshittification & everything fucking evil that @officialgrammarly.bsky.social is doing. I'm fucking furious, and not just about what 1 company has done. An open letter to Grammarly & the rest of the LLM hype machine www.moryan.com/an-open-lett...
An open letter to Grammarly and other plagiarists, thieves and slop merchants
To everyone at Grammarly, I am writing a book right now, a really challenging endeavor that no doubt someone in Silicon Valley will think it’s fine to steal the day it’s published. I’ve been a profes...

the most thoroughly vindicated man in hollywood. trade disputes and conspiracies ✔️ republic subverted over sex hangups ✔️ “sand people” killed, royalty indifferent ✔️ naive idiot casts vote for tyranny ✔️ villains with silly names like “dooku” ✔️ powerful clerical order screwing up ✔️ list goes on
Pretty crazy how important the blockade of a trade route is right now
i miss when internet people would make their own gifs, instead of just clicking a button and choosing a poorly made, badly encoded one that someone added to a library a decade ago
EVERYONE: but that event's in texas and it's dangerous for some people to travel there ME: it's in america. hard pass.
But my favorite pictures from Venice is not cats but this combination that I think of as “missed connections.”
just imagine making such a public confession that you don’t care about consent
“Now, Grammarly has finally addressed the backlash — but not by apologizing, and not by walking the feature back. For now, it will graciously give us the chance to opt-out of something we didn’t know it was doing to begin with.”
in all seriousness, why the fuck is this guy still in any position of authority?
Reporter: “You said the war is "very complete." But your Defense Secretary says "this is just the beginning." So which is it” Trump: “You could say both.”
from now on, whenever i get bored of something, i’m going to say it’s “very complete, pretty much”
so let me get this straight. some people wanted eggs to be cheaper and were mad about all five trans women in sports and now america’s considering a military draft to go and commit more war crimes in west asia?
incredible is a funny word. who decided that not being credible was a good thing?
wild about fuel prices rising like that. if only we'd all decided a decade ago to try and reduce our reliance on fossil fuels. like a set of agreements. perhaps made in paris. pity we didn't do that.
I was in Tehran this time last year. I want you to see how beautiful my city is. I want you to see the city the US/Israel is trying to wipe off the face of the earth
international women's day is an annual celebration, commemorating the invention of women in 1973, by the famous inventor, Ima Woman
america begins with an a, which implies it's a negative, meaning there must be a positive version which is simply merica
'We are losing the stars. Not all at once, but quietly, one streetlight, one neon sign, one expanding suburb at a time.' 🧪 🔭
Stars are disappearing before our eyes — and something in us is shifting
For most of human history, the night sky has been a shared inheritance, a source of wonder. Now, more than a billion children see barely any stars in the night sky above their homes. So what does that...

BREAKING NEWS: You are hot. "The results are both definitive and sexy," said one extremely flustered scientist.
it’s so funny when some rando makes a post that starts with BREAKING, like i’m sorry jeff but you know you’re not a newspaper, right?
in an age of AI bullshit, it's now hard to fully trust any videos that say they're from a war zone. the party no longer needs to tell us to reject the evidence of our eyes and ears. we can no longer trust them ourselves.
semi-regular reminder that if you show up in my replies to be a shit, i will block you and promptly forget that you exist. proceed accordingly.
I'd add that your sentences, carefully written, will work in concert with each other. Longer sentences will help your writing flow, making it feel smoother and more comfortable to read. Short ones give sharpness. You need both. The presence of one will emphasise the other.
Unsolicited writing advice, no. 3290126: Vary the lengths of your sentences. Short sentences create impact. Longer ones are for when you want to introduce a lyrical note. Don't make them too long, though; it can be confusing, and your audiobook reader needs to breathe...
"The US-Israeli onslaught against Iran is intended to resolve a 24-year standoff over Tehran’s nuclear programme" that's funny. i thought it was "completely and totally obliterated" during 2025. seems like a plot hole.
