Just a reminder that Meta not only allows white supremacy & hate speech to flourish, they actually incentivize it by sometimes PAYING CREATORS FOR IT. When even X bans someone it says "violates the X Hateful Profile Policy" but Meta PAYS that same creator, Meta should have some explaining to do.

FINALLY! The majority of New Yorkers have supported banning the carriages for years. Finding a transition for the 170 active carriage drivers can't possibly be the hardest thing this city has had to do. My heart breaks for the horses that still suffer while we debate for years. It's time!

Ban on Horse-Drawn Carriages Is Backed by Key N.Y.C. Official

Julie Menin, the City Council speaker, said she would support a bill to ban the rides in Central Park after a tourist was killed in an accident last month.

This is heartbreaking, a stain on NYC & totally fixable. Apparently a handful of carriage drivers is more important than these horses. Ryder’s Law offers other options for the drivers. Shame on us. @mayor.nyc.gov, I know challenging a union is tough, but ENOUGH of this cruelty. Please do something!

Deniz's final moments were filled with fear, confusion, & pain. He died on the pavement, surrounded by noise & strangers. This NEVER should've happened 💔    This is exactly why City Council NEEDS to take action and pass Ryder's Law!   🎥- Len Goldberg

In my @contrariannews.org piece, I unpack the Meta guilty verdicts, why this moment is different, my team's work on all this, and what comes next. The status quo, it is clear, is no longer acceptable... now we can hopefully move to the next phase of building safer, more accountable online spaces.

I’ve had @cnn.com on for 2 hours. Haven’t seen a peep about this. The biggest synagogue in Mississippi—one that was also bombed by the KKK in 1967–was burned, police calling it arson. Not an interesting enough story for the American people to know about, even if motive not yet certain? Terrible.
