BTW, Lady's Well Brewery was never meant to be just a porter brewery, it wanted to compete with the bigger Scottish and English breweries by producing a range of ales and porters when it first opened. That was an eye-opener for me when I researched it. Also, not the same 'stout' as now of course ...

Tonight I’ve been drinking some of my Fullers/Youngs style homebrew of increasing strength. My hubris made me open my late father’s 2020 Fullers Vintage Ale. I am suitably humbled. I thought my beers were pretty good. The Fullers Vintage Ale is light years ahead of them. Absolutely beautiful.

I brewed this wonderful 1923 Courage KKK that @patto1ro.bsky.social shared from their brewing records and it’s amazing. I spent a few hours making the invert sugar. Time well spent. It’s a beautiful beer. I named it The Famous Three Kings (KKK) which I thought was appropriate.
