Well, this was a surprise! A sudden, literally-only-one-full-day trip to Hokkaido just happened to correspond with the Jigoku Matsuri (Hell Festival). So we went! Making a longer version with giant flag dancing and some explanations for patrons...will get that up this weekend 👹✨
Odoriba Station in Yokohama is watched over by enormous slit-pupiled eyes, with pawprints guiding travelers and tickets showing a cat mid-dance step. The cats it honors are bakeneko, ordinary cats said to become yokai once they reach a certain age.
