The South was never some lost cause. It was fenced off. Suppression laws, closed precincts, zero investment, then pundits called the fence a culture. Last night voters climbed it anyway. Imagine what happens when somebody finally takes the fence down.

I just want to say that tonight has renewed my hope for the future of this country, for the future my kids will inherit as they grow up, in a way that seemed impossible just two years ago. It feels really good.
