Only humans can use art to diagnose the ills of the past and present and dream the new future we can build. Machines can only reassemble the debris of the past in the same patterns that already existed.
The main reason that AI is specifically targeted at destroying art as a human endeavor is that art is the primary way that we dynamically dream of new ways of being. Our enemies want to trap us in an eternal static present maintaining the structures of the past. We should be building a future.

I lived in an RV on the road for 3 years, traveling through 47 states, and only went to one of these. TA and Flying J are better. This guy can go gnaw on a log.

My street is about to be torn up by a construction crew, which is bad for my plans to record songs but good for deterring all the people who speed recklessly through my neighborhood.
DHS told the NYTimes last month that $1.2 million had been collected so far on $84 billion of fines, so CBP just gave these companies taxpayer funds worth 30 times what the government has been able to collect in the past 16 months. Just outright corruption, in service of evil ends.

zach@zachfountain.bsky.social · 2mo agoStill waiting for the "fiscal conservatives," whose party runs the USA with a flaccid iron fist, to do something mildly fiscally conservative.
Gas, groceries, utilities, and basically all the things are outrageously expensive thanks to unnecessary tariffs (taxes), particularly optional wars within the USA and the Middle East, and irresponsibly built, poorly regulated, and vastly unpopular data centers.
