I think the biggest pain I caused to myself is convincing myself that when people were commissioned me they wanted me to be something else "I need to do my best" became "I need to be someone else" and I was stuck doing "Nothing" because "Nothing" is better than disappointment
I love making characters that have an ultracomplex story and fictionnal life For the sake of them just being pictured wearing diapers :|
