The goal of the Shamba structure in Kikuyu society is to free the woman from work and hardship so she can live a creative free life... Women inherit land passed down from mothers. On the Shamba land she can have many men exclusively... but most are "Kiīhko"...a sort of serving non-sexual "husband".
"Our Kikuyu" a government textbook about Kikuyu life. You see a depicted matriarchy where a leading woman in this village...sitting on a mans back...discusses with other women while men do work This is reality but looks harsh. Men participate freely in kikuyu society because they center woman.
Traditional Kikuyu marriage is polyandry...ONE woman, one husband (called her mũthuri), but also additional men called Khīkho. These men are also in a relationship with her to support her exclusively!! But not sexual. They are committed to her wellbeing as the center of the universe.
We have to be careful with our language to say what we really mean and ensure we are really understood
Am not a politician but I think we can all make change by example...by building your own life up in a way that changes society. A society is just people so if we all do things differently change will occur. Ask ourselves: what do you plan in life that helps build a new world?
