I think a lot of people are interpretating yesterday's Israeli election through their own ideas and biases. This was an election largely about Netanyahu, the military, domestic crime and October 7. To a large extent, it wasn't about the Gaza war or Palestinian statehood.
In case anyone is curious about the Israeli elections, right now it looks like Gadi Eisenkot's Yashar party may take a slim majority. Yashar is a new center-right party. They're more palatable to the public and less racist/warmongering than Likud. More on Eisenkot, who may become Prime Minister:

Jews marched and mobilized in large numbers to support the civil rights movement. They ran publicity and leadership campaigns. They did that while being perceived by the general public and the media as _white people_. Which helped draw attention to institutionalized inequality and injustice.

Two weekends ago we visited my daughter at college. "Do you want anything?" "Challah and chocolate chip cookies." I dutifully made her 2 small challahs and a couple of dozen cookies. A bit of joy. This weekend, it's my son's turn. "Do you want anything?" Didn't expect a grocery order.
Random Jewish person: "I HAVE AMBITION OF COSMIC PROPORTIONS!" Their Mom: "Nu? Who needs the aggravation?" Can you imagine actually being so stupid that you'd want to rule the world? It would be like becoming synagogue president, forever. Endless grievances, and everyone expects you to fix them.
Meanwhile, Netanyahu's office is publicly calling the journalist a liar rather than condemning the more than a dozen similar attacks by settlers that have happened in the last week. All covered exensively by Israeli media. This is an annual problem: www.yesh-din.org/en/category/...

North Texas! My home is somewhere on this map. Not in Plano, or the red rectangle, though. Rating the worth of a neighborhood on those things is so odd to me. Who actually likes HOAs? Privacy fences? Chik Fil a? Really? We know our neighbors. People are kind and friendly. Clean streets. Low crime.

I missed my dad's yahrzeit today. I actually had a calendar alert go off 24 hours late. My own fault. I'll go to Shacharit service tomorrow morning, a day late. The timing doesn't matter. It's been 33 years. An entire lifetime. He never met his grandchildren. He'd have been so proud of them.

I'm getting over covid. Two weeks ago, I came down with what I thought was the flu, and it rapidly progressed into a chills, high fever, chest congestion, coughing, etc. I have no idea how I got it. I work from home, so I'm not around many people these days, and my kids were not in school. +

The Jewish Conservative / Masorti movement has issued a 37-page teshuvah (response) regarding intermarriage. Conservative clergy are still prohibited from performing intermarriages. They also want to be dramatically more welcoming. This entire response exists in tension between the two. +
