I think there's an argument that the backlash is proof that it *is* working. LGBTQ+ people being seen as normal and present is an existential nightmare for the worst people in the world, so they're freaking out and trying desperately to prevent it, and in most cases, it's way too late.

"Were queer people wrong to come out when they could have all just stayed in the closet? We're just asking questions!" Fuck. Off.

The trick seems to be that anonymity (but with a consistent pseudonym) frees people up from having to be performative. They’re more likely to act like how they really are. With the IRL name, the horrible performative behaviour is more likely to carry over.

every single study done on this shows that the actual best behavior is done under consistent pseudonyms and people behave worse under real names it’s counterintuitive but at this point the real names thing is willful denial of evidence

So, after thinking about it for a while, I picked up a couple of @tkingfisher.com books and finished off the Twisted Ones last night. It was maybe a bad idea to read it until 1am, but I really, really enjoyed it. And my cat kept sitting where she could see the pages, so I think she liked it too.

So I've been playing the Silent Hill 2 remake and a youtube video started up at the exact funniest time. Here's my approximation of what happened. It's not really a spoiler.

So...I see this article talking about a fantasy series that's being ignored and I look because I like a lot of obscure things that failed for various reasons. Turns out this is a Daily Wire show, the article starts with saying Joe Rogan likes it and then tries to shame readers for not watching.

Article headline from Giant Freakin Robot saying: The Best New Fantasy Series On TV Is Being Buried For Political Reasons, How To Save It. It has an image of a sword in a stone in front of a snowy castle.

I think I just came up with a term that describes how Trump and the GOP behaves. It's "Tasmanian Devil Politics". It's just anger and rage and mindless destruction because they can't comprehend anything but blind loyalty, and anyone who questions anything is seen as an enemy or traitor.

The hiccup, IMO, is that without government regulation, you rapidly get schools that just exist to make money or schools that are in no way designed to encourage post-secondary education. There are schools under the existing voucher systems that never have anyone go to university from them.

I think what people tend to not tell you about severe burnout is that it makes it significantly harder to actually accomplish anything that would help you escape the burnout. My particular flavour also comes with extreme difficulty sleeping which is...fun because it just makes it worse every day.
