I missed something important. We can regulate capitalism without abolishing it entirely. Simply raising the corporate tax rates, and those of the ultra-rich, back to even 1990s levels will greatly increase revenue for social programs and infrastructure, and won't hurt the middle and working classes.

First, DSA should break out into its own party, or join one of the several existing socialist ones. Second, if the DSA wants to continue to ride the coattails of the Democratic party, then it needs to drop the most extreme positions. Democrats in general want reform, not a different system.

I don't invite y'all into the Right-Wing-Pigeonosphere often (for good reason), but opposition research is sometimes crucial. First off, when the DSA *knows damn good and well* they're going into enemy territory, they better send their best debaters. Watch, then 👇. 🧵 www.foxnews.com/video/640280...

DSA National Political Committee member Frances Gill and Manhattan Institute fellow and Venezuelan migrant Daniel Di Martino debate the Democratic socialist agenda on 'The Story.'

On this day in 1944, the Gestapo found Anne Frank and her family in their Secret Annex. Her diary stands as a warning against hatred and persecution. Eighty years later, we should recognize the warning signs before it’s too late.🙂‍↕️

#BisonTuesday. Todd Blanche MUST NOT be confirmed. Still "undecided" are Murkowski, Collins, Curtis, and Cassidy. Lean on them hard, especially Cassidy. He must atone for inflicting RFKjr on us. 5calls.org, Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121. Also, lean on Tillis and Cornyn to vote against him 👇

Horrible thought. Is the cyclosporidia outbreak being kind-of sort-of not reigned in to push people to eat the least nutritious stuff on the drive-through menu? It's not that long of a game. Eating only crap will put healthy people out of fighting shape by the midterms. Soft targets. Just sayin'.

Alright, let's straighten this out. I loved MTV back in the day. I'm still fond of its heyday now. But there are 2 very valid criticisms. First, music videos had been around for some years; MTV just gave them huge exposure, taking them from niche to must-haves for artists, particularly new ones. 1/

Scroll down for the list of committee members, flood their lines and inboxes, make sure they don't get a wink of sleep until this is killed. The argument these tits are making is that we are the last Western nation with birthright citizenship. That's right, fuckers. That's what makes America great.

A GOP Congressman, Griffith Morgan (Virginia), has introduced a bill to strip people in Guam, Puerto Rico, the District of Columbia, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and every other US non-state territory of their birthright citizenship. www.congress.gov/bill/119th-c...

I tried for years to get help. No one was ever taking new patients. My insurer was useless. I had a crisis and went to the EAP counsellor, who insurance allowed me to see five times. I got very lucky. They knew a psychiatrist with an opening, and got me an intake interview. Otherwise, I'd be dead.

Red tape. Low reimbursement rates. Delayed payments. We heard from more than 500 psychologists, psychiatrists and therapists who each faced a moment when they decided they had to leave their insurance network. (Published Aug. 2024)

Jeanne Gibson, beloved “Rosie the Riveter,” passed away on July 29, 2026 at 100. Gibson became a welder at Todd Pacific Shipyards in Seattle, helping build destroyers for the Allied war effort during WWII. Gibson helped pave the way for millions of women who stepped into critical wartime roles.

We need this. We need mass protests nationwide. We need a general strike. We need to get off our asses and on our feet, or else we'll end up on our knees. Nothing will change otherwise.

Resistance is persistence!@chuckspaeth.bsky.social · 2w ago

#30million8/30 How can we be assured we will stand for our democracy when we cannot even assemble a mass protest? Are we pathetic and weak? 30 million marching on August 30th. I am not seeking likes. Repost. It requires all of us to participate. We are not weak and we are unafraid.

I'm... I shouldn't be surprised. This was in a Vernor Venge story. They were tearing down the Geisel library, and rather than take the trouble to nondestructively scan all the books, they went with a low bidder, who shredded them, and scanned the fragments with AI on the way to incineration.

This issue isn't getting the publicity it deserves. One federal judge has ruled the practice of destroying rare books to be acceptable from a standpoint of intellectual property; the deeper issue of cultural patrimony has not been touched. elsolitario.org/en/2026/07/2...
