I think one hallmark of the Trump era is a sense that public leaders see themselves above accountability. You can see that in the thin-skinned reaction of DC journalists any time someone dare criticizes them. (This is about DC reporters - not Nicholas, to be clear)

A lot of criticism of the White House press corps on Bluesky tonight, primarily coming from a journalism as fourth estate, truth to power, informing the public, valuing free speech perspective. In case you were wondering why many prominent media figures prefer spending time on X.

The legacy media sat there while Trump lied about the past elections and "joked" about running again in 2028. They did not boo. They did not walk out. They just sat there and ate their dinner. The journalists in that room will be remembered as the journalists in that room.
