I’m proud to have stood with ATU members today. As a CapMetro board member, I’ll continue fighting for negotiations in good faith; together we can deliver the fair contract these workers have earned.

Every move-out season, furniture ends up in landfills while someone else struggles to furnish their next home. That’s why the City of Austin’s MoveOutATX program lets you donate items through July 31 or shop the Free Furniture Market starting tonight. moveoutatx.com
Texans know what happens when we ignore the limits of our grid, our water supply, and our infrastructure. As data center development accelerates, we cannot continue to shift the costs onto our communities. Our resources should build stronger communities – not bigger profits for corporations.
Every day, thousands of Austinites rely on public transit to get to work, school, medical appointments, & home again. A strong transit system depends on the people who make it run. I'm hopeful Keolis and ATU Local 1091 can reach a fair agreement that respects our operators & keeps Austin moving.
@zoforaustin.bsky.social has delivered for Austin, expanding housing supply in Central Austin, launching Sip Safely to prevent drink tampering & backing stronger emergency response. As he runs for re-election, Austin needs his proven leadership to keep building a more affordable & safe city!
Juneteenth began in Texas. On June 19, 1865, in Galveston, enslaved Texans learned they were free - more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Today, I joined Austinites in honoring that history, celebrating freedom, and reflecting on the long journey toward a more perfect union.
Muslim Texans left the GOP convention in tears. As the first Muslim elected to Austin City Council, we’ve focused on lowering rent, preventing hate crimes, and delivering for working families. Texans deserve leaders with better priorities.
Gun violence is a public health crisis affecting Austin and communities across the country. That’s why I’m honored to earn the @momsdemandaction.org Gun Sense Candidate Distinction. I'm committed to advancing local solutions that make our neighborhoods & cities safer.
I'm honored to have @doggett.house.gov's support behind my re-election! Generations of Austinites have benefited from his leadership and his willingness to stand up for ordinary people. I'm proud to continue that work by fighting for housing affordability and opportunity for everyone.
Stopped by the Little Free Bakery pop-up and got to celebrate something really special. A space where everything is free, neighbors take care of each other, and community comes first. Grateful to present a proclamation recognizing May 3 as Little Free Bakery Day.
Honored to have Gina Hinojosa in our corner. Gina has always shown up—for students, for working families, and for communities that deserve to be heard. That’s the kind of leadership we’re building this campaign around. Join us: zoforaustin.com
Rain or shine, Austin runs on labor. Every street, stage, classroom, and clinic depends on people showing up and doing the work. This May Day, we recognize the dignity of that labor and the responsibility to protect it.
Here’s a clip from yesterday’s Public Safety & Mobility Committee meeting. A quick look at the conversations happening around safety, innovation, and how these technologies operate on our streets. This work is ongoing, and it matters for our community.
Disappointed Waymo didn’t show up to yesterday’s Public Safety & Mobility meeting. People deserve transparency when it comes to safety on our streets. This isn’t partisan, it’s public safety. Reach out to your reps and to Waymo. Accountability only happens if we demand it.
I’ll be at KUT Festival (May 1–2 @ UT Austin) talking about what resistence to immigration enforcement looks like. Join us → 🎟 kutfestival.org | Code: SPEAKERGUEST26 (10% off)
Abbott threatened Austin. City management complied. That’s not leadership. I’m standing with @mikesiegeltx.bsky.social @vanessaforatx.bsky.social and CM Velásquez —our communities deserve courage, not capitulation.
Grateful to everyone who showed up for the renters’ rights teach-in with BASTA. Thank you to the organizers doing this work every day. We’ll keep showing up for renters and fighting for safe, dignified housing in District 9.
This morning’s cargo train derailment in downtown Austin has caused road closures and delays. Cleanup is expected to take all day. Grateful for first responders and city staff, and thankful there are no reported injuries or loss of life.
Renters deserve safe, dignified housing and clear info about their rights. Join me tomorrow for a community teach-in on renters’ rights in Texas. 6–7:30 PM UT Austin, CMA 5.136 Hope to see you there.
One lot in Windsor Park turns from one unit to two units (multi-generational now!). This is the figurative infill density that was laying on the ground until housing leaders like @zoforaustin.bsky.social @kristaforaustin.bsky.social @paige-ellis.bsky.social stepped in. #atxurbanists
Anti-Muslim rhetoric from people in power does not stay online – it fuels fear, threats, & real danger in our communities. This is about more than politics, it's about whether we allow fear to define who belongs in our state. Grateful to talk to @annalissroy.bsky.social at @washingtonpost.com
I’m excited to support @poojaintexas.bsky.social (HD47) and Samantha Lopez-Resendz (HD50)! Can’t wait to see them both at the Texas House fighting for our communities. Join me for a special evening in their support! secure.actblue.com/donate/pooja...

Honored to have joined Starbucks workers here in Austin as they filed for their union election. The right to organize is essential to workers everywhere. I will continue to stand with workers at the picket line, the bargaining table, and especially at city hall.
Last week, Council passed parking decoupling, giving people more flexibility and helping lower the cost of housing over time. Looking forward to seeing how this shapes affordability in Austin. Watch here to learn more.
Grateful to have @jamestalarico.bsky.social support behind my re-election campaign! James and I have worked together on solutions for Texas; lowering costs, strengthening public education, and helping people afford to stay in the communities they love. Join us: zoforaustin.com
Busy day at City Hall. From supporting academic research, to advancing housing affordability, to showing up for Austin’s music community. Grateful to keep the work moving on issues that matter to our city.
Happy Easter from the District 9 office to all who celebrate. Wishing you a joyful day with loved ones.
As many gather with family and community this week, wishing everyone observing Passover a meaningful and peaceful holiday. Chag sameach.
I’ve heard your concerns, and I’m taking action. This is about accessibility, clarity, and meeting people where they are. Here is my official statement.
