Not sure if everyone appreciates the difference. Rooftop solar hardwires into your main panel via a dedicated breaker, so it requires a permit, an installer, an electrician, and a utility agreement. Balcony solar just plugs into a wall outlet, sharing an existing circuit with no permits or rewiring.

A new deal on balcony solar just dropped in the US

Plug-in panels can lower your bills. To boost the American market for the tech, nonprofit Bright Saver is selling kits with no markup, starting at around…

We can't solve a housing crisis without building more housing. Today we broke ground on the Casanova Residence, which will soon be nearly 100 affordable and supportive homes with on-site services for New Yorkers. Every new home is a step toward a City that everyone can afford.

Mayor Mamdani stands at a podium next to Deputy Mayor for Housing Leila Bozorg.A construction worker in a neon green t-shirt and a white hard hat stands at the Casanova groundbreaking.

“Liberals will always choose fascism over socialism” is one of this website’s conventional ways of saying “I am stupid and I prefer reading the opinions of other stupid people”. It is good when stupid people self-identify, so we should not complain when they do so

One of the great Alt Left lies was that they didn’t have anything against Ukraine they just didn’t want to be paying billions of dollars to support it. Here we are, not paying any appreciable sums to support the war, & these guys are still at it

Cenk Uygur: "I'm done officially with supporting the Ukrainians' war. So, it's been a long time now, seem like they've been at war for 18 years now."

All the Fauci stuff is a modern day version of the POW/MIA stuff after Vietnam - a way to try to rewrite the history of a huge failure of conservative ideology to be instead a story about how liberals and foreigners stabbed us in the back.

My opinion about cable cars as urban transit is the same as for ferries (and "BRTs") They work better than other modes in specific geographic conditions and demand pattern. But they aren't that "one simple trick" that can replace other modes cheaply/more easily, as they are too often marketed.

Can a cable car be a legit form of urban transit? I took a ride on Europe's newest, and longest, aerial tramway, the C1 in #Paris, to find out. (In the video: we're overflying a national highway + a high-speed rail line.) More in this week's HIGH SPEED dispatch: www.highspeed.blog/up-where-the...

I want you to repeat after me: NIMBYism leads to a cost of living crisis that results in mass trans suffering. YIMBYism allows trans people to flee to cities that welcome them, so they can be who they are, rebuild their lives, and contribute to the social and economic fabric.

Gdańsk train station bathroom 🚾 is a about $1. I ain't mad. I'd rather have abundant restrooms that are low cost usage than insufficient (nominally) free restrooms.

Loving this part of my Polish cousin's introduction for me (meeting his friends): "and why a country that builds ten-lane highways can't build itself a tram."
