Calling all art historian sleuths! My friend saw this painting at a hotel in Wales and can't figure out anything about it. The hotel doesn't know where it came from. Any ideas how we could identify it? The style is a bit bizarre to me; looks like c20 'does' Dutch golden age but I could be wrong.

156 years ago #onthisday, Top the wombat died. He was the pet of the poet and artist Dante Gabriel Rossetti who, upon Top's passing, created this self-portrait in mourning. More on Rossetti and co’s curious but longstanding fixation with the #wombat here: publicdomainreview.org/essay/o...
