Huh. Trying out Opus 5, and that's the second time today it's gone above any beyond. The first time was welcome, but it just built a little feature that I didn't ask for and don't want. Not sure what to make of this.

To install a PWA on iOS, you have to: - Navigate to the site - Open the menu - Click "share" (wtf!?) - Click the SECOND "more" ellipsis icon (not the first!) - Click "add to home screen" - Click the "Add" button This is, to me, unacceptably byzantine. Just deliberately hostile on Apple's part.

Just took me 15 tries to get a password accepted by Fidelity. If your app has requirements for a password, you need to tell me which I'm failing on, ESPECIALLY IF THEY'RE POORLY WRITTEN AND MEAN SOMETHING DIFFERENT THAN WHAT THEY SAY

maybe rust & typescript being more popular in the LLM era spells final victory for strongly-typed languages & indicates that many people just didn't like them because type-safe code "felt" more onerous to write (bc of time horizons). now that we have machines that write code for us, type safety wins

Backfilling Bluesky follows with Happyview, attempt 2: 18 hrs in, and it's working! However, I notice that it's not using much bandwidth. Should it really be waiting to resolve every PDS before downloading repos? I assume we're getting rate limited on PDS resolution. #atproto

New interface for tracking backfills in @happyview.dev. It updates in real-time to provide a much better view into how the backfill is going. Backfill jobs can also resume after a restart now, which wasn't always the case. #atproto

What if we emphasize the shape of a handle instead of teaching vocabulary? With a little animation, we can show a examples of handles they might recognize and hint at more with "@proto.handle".

@ptr.pet I like hydrant, but I lost some progress on my backfill when my PC lost power. Right now I've got it stopping hydrant and taking a backup every hour. Two questions: is it possible/safe to backup hydrant while it's running? Is there a better way to not lose data on an unexpected shutdown?

Ooh yeah hydrant is moving. Maxed out my residential internet no problem, gonna be like 10 days til I have all the full follow graph (though probably more since I'll throttle it to spare some bandwidth). Thanks @ptr.pet.
