When we spend half of our day at work where everything we do is timed, measured, tracked, and surveilled, how can anyone say we live in a democracy. Just because I call myself a ballerina, doesn’t mean I am. If democracy is to mean anything, it would need to apply to our workplaces.
Popular assemblies have a long history in social movements and it’s encouraging to see them being discussed and planned in climate justice campaigns. Neighbourhood, or workplace, or school assemblies should be formed wherever there are people trying to make our world a little less shitty!

Minimum wage in Nova Scotia is $16.75, which is almost half of what a decent wage would be for this very expensive province. Yet tens of thousands of Nova Scotia workers make minimum wage and tens of thousands more make less than a decent wage. We know what is wrong and we know how to fix it!

Municipal services should be free for all users. From transit to recreation facilities and programs. There should be no user fees associated with using municipal services, fully funded through a strongly progressive tax system where wealth is redistributed equally across our society!
Public transit should be free for all users. In a sane decent society that gave two shits about our current climate breakdown, public transit would be prioritized over all other forms of transportation, and should be free of user fees. Sadly we live in an insane world with profit over people always.
