TWO PANELS! Come see Pat and I Saturday at 1:30pm! Will I make @contricode.bsky.social feel awkward? Almost certainly! Then come watch @frankcifaldi.bsky.social and I discuss... gambling? On the NES? Finally, you can watch me play shooters, poorly, on the candy cabs! THRILL TO IT

I remember having a really good pizza in a place like this (but not here). It was deep in the mountains of [redacted] and the owner had a PC full of then-current bootleg movies to watch as you ate. Details withheld because snitches get stitches.

We do not need to have this conversation. Celebrity guests are allowed to set their own comfort level when interacting with fans and cons. This varies by celebrity, by con, and yes, it even varies by fan because some fans don’t understand boundaries. How much you paid is irrelevant.

Watching Star Trek TNG over again, with my 13yr old. I think this show fucked up my generation because it convinced us that villains tend to concede when Picard points out the moral consequences of their plans, and their unforeseen impact on other people’s rights and dignity.

Every time I listen to “Your Song” by Elton John, I feel very disappointed that my high school guidance counselor didn’t suggest ‘Man who makes potions in a traveling show’. I bet I’d have been great at that.

#SDCC comic con: our daughter left her 3D printed black dragon in the restroom near E/Starbucks. She printed it herself and is devastated. We checked the restroom and lost and found which means someone picked it up. If you bring it to 5552 I will give you a signed comic as reward

Weird accomplishments; I have an official My Little Pony based on me Deadpool uses my name in the first two movies and spoke at length about Women In Refrigerators I turned down Gene Simmons, Paris Hilton and Bacardi. My name was officially made into Babs Gordon’s middle name. More to come!

I'm darn tired of hearing "SMB2 isn't a real Mario game". It's both a real Mario game AND a better game than the Japanese sequel.

Nintendo did not choose a "random" game to become the western Mario 2. According to @winwinirwin.bsky.social's great SMB2 book, Doki Doki Panic began as a prototype for a Super Mario Bros. sequel focused on block-stacking and vertical progression. more: thrillingtalesofoldvideogames.com/m4#50

Text:

An early, in utero version of [Doki Doki Panic] began as a follow-up to their most successful yet: They were experimenting with a new Super Mario Bros. game. This one, however, would pay homage to the past, placing the goal not far down a horizontal path, but at the top of the level, just like Donkey Kong. Only this time, the world would extend beyond the top of the screen. ... But when Shigeru Miyamoto and a young developer named Kensuke Tanabe looked at this prototype, they felt something was off. Two characters stacked blocks on top of each other to progress ever-upward, but the screen only moved in single jarring swoops, shifting up once you approached the top, so that you’d begin again near the bottom.

Below, you see level 7-1 from Doki Doki Panic and SMB2 both, showing that a vestige of this original idea of block-stacking still exists in the final version of either game.

I had a boss who would criticize you if you used the phrase “I don’t know”, because in his words, those were negative words and he didn’t want his team thinking negatively. I bet that dude is getting into a lot of trouble with AI these days.
