We represent 26 affiliated unions and over 170,000 workers across Alberta

Earlier this week, WestJet's 4,400 flight attendants went on strike over unpaid work, and within just one day they had reached a tentative agreement. It got done where deals should get done, at the bargaining table. This is a reminder to every worker in this country that collective action works.

🚨 BREAKING: The Common Front, a coalition of 30+ Alberta unions, has released a joint statement pledging to stand with WestJet flight attendants as they prepare for a possible strike. "Every employer should understand that when they take on one group of organized workers, they take us all on."

Canadian billionaire Tobi Lütke, the CEO of Shopify, compared pensioners to legal dependents and said they shouldn't be allowed to vote, while endorsing a system where people making over $500,000/yr get five votes each. Billionaires in Canada are awfully comfortable saying these things out loud.

Yesterday the UCP moved 46,000 disabled Albertans off AISH onto ADAP, a program that pays less and pushes people toward work. Their answer to the lost income is that people can earn it back on the job, which would take nearly 39 hours a week at minimum wage. This is wrong on so many levels.

Canada Day in Fort McMurray was so exciting! Marching alongside the community, we were reminded that this is what we’re fighting for: an Alberta where working people can build a good life and celebrate together in every corner of this province. Happy Canada Day, Alberta! 🇨🇦

STATEMENT: Canada was built by workers with the promise of a fair shot at a good life, decent wages, real pensions, with rights that working people fought hard to win. This Canada Day, that promise is under threat, and we won't pretend otherwise. 🇨🇦

🏳️‍🌈 ✊ We were out in Medicine Hat this weekend for Pride for Everyone, hosted by the Prairie Pride Guild of Medicine Hat and District. Labour and the fight for 2SLGBTQIA+ rights are part of the same fight. Proud to stand with queer and trans Albertans in Medicine Hat and everywhere. Solidarity! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️✊

Today we recognize National Indigenous Peoples Day and celebrate the histories, cultures, and resilience of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Peoples across Turtle Island. We're all treaty people, with a shared responsibility to truth, reconciliation, and solidarity. 🪶✊

In March we called for a windfall tax on the oil companies cashing in on the price spikes from Trump and Israel's war on Iran. Yesterday the UCP's response to those same high prices: a one-time $100 cheque out of taxpayer money, with nothing asked of the oil companies.
