I’m reminded of the powerful lessons I learned when we were in Greensboro, NC in April 2025 . We visited the Int’l Civil Rights Museum housed in the historic Woolworth building where the lunch counter sit-in movement originated. NC A&T students led the way in 1960 and are leading again today.

I always have mixed feelings about these images. Yes, it's inspiring to see these college students committed to democracy, but the fact that they have to do anything remotely difficult to exercise their voting rights is enraging. Taking part in a democracy should be as easy as possible.
