#food Light classic Cantonese soup: pork meatballs (with pickled mustard greens) in a rich chicken broth with white pepper and big chunks of daikon radish, scallions to garnish. Sometimes you don't want rice or noodles or bread, you want cleansing, clear, healthy, easy, delicious but nourishing.

Say what you will about the Anthrocon parade, but I liked that it was only 45 minutes instead of almost 2 hours. That meant I still had the time and energy to check out the block party! 1. @fluffyhowl.ca 2. @koidelcoyote.bsky.social 3. @zillionross.bsky.social 4. @talexis.bsky.social

Despite its continued attendance growth, lots of optimizations in registration and convention logistics helped @anthrocon.org 2025 run exceptionally smoothly! I could see it holding the title of largest furry convention for a long time!

Today in Old Newspapers, an article from 1955 that has all of five paragraphs and uses one of them to call red pandas idiots for some reason. (…this it turns out was not an uncommon opinion)

Newspaper article clipping, headline: Rare Red Pandas to be Shipped to California.

CALCUTTA, India (AP)—Four rare red pandas from Tibet are leaving here Saturday for California. Though not so well known as their famous "giant" cousins, animal experts say they’re really rarer.

The animals have rich red fur, with stripped red and white faces and black feet.

Noel Rosefelt of Avalon, Calif., representing a California zoo, bought them for $210 each. On the trip to America, they will be fed bamboo shoots, milk powder, condensed milk and bread.

Experts describe them as extremely stupid but easily domesticated.
