So I'm workin on the site design. We decided to put a prominent link to our Generative AI policy statement in the footer on every page. Maybe other brands will do this too. Who knows.

Fables Diapers Generative AI Policy:

We're not into it.
Fables Diapers does not and will not use artificial intelligence (AI), LLMs, image generators, code generators, text generators or any kind of generative AI tools for any of our products or marketing materials. All our content, from a concept sketch to a blog post to a marketing video to a product design, is created by a fairly-compensated real person.

We know this takes longer and is more expensive, which is particularly hard on a small startup business with limited resources facing a time crunch. But we’re also artists, and we've personally felt the negative impacts of AI: it’s not good for us or our community. So we don't touch it.

That said, as AI worms its way into every piece of technology we use, we can’t promise that some software plugin or graphics tool won't use AI somewhere in its architecture in ways we don’t notice or can’t disable. We give you our word: we will never knowingly use LLM-based tools to create or help create anything you see, touch, read or purchase from Fables.

That's all we have to say about that.

Just put baked beans into the oven to bake. Wait. So if they're baked beans when they come out, having been baked, what are they now? Pre-baked beans? Proto-baked beans? It's not a batter or a dough, it's baked beans...that have to be baked. A Song of Baked and Beans.

Made béchamel sauce, the "mother" sauce, and SIX daughters: -Sauce crème (w/ cream) -Sauce aurore (w/ roasted tomatoes) -Sauce cresson (w/ parsley (had no watercress)) -Sauce soubise (w/ onions sautéed in butter) -Sauce champignon au truffe (w/ mushrooms & truffle salt) -Sauce anchovies (failed!)

Jeeze I wish I had an effective way to bind these sheets of paper together. The humble stapler:

This is a slide from our pitch deck that lays down one of our core policies from day one. This is an art-driven community. I'm an artist. At Fables we won't be using AI-gen tools at any part in our chain, even if its easier or cheaper or faster. It's just not what I want to be as a business. -Cargie

A slide from the Fables Diapers business plan: "At Fables, nothing will be AI-generated. All our products and marketing materials will be designed by people and made with love."

Home-made coleslaw ("health slaw," no mayo), home-made elote corn-chili dip, and 48-hour sous-vide short rib glazed with home-made gastrique (caramel, rice wine vinegar, home-made demiglace and beef stock: a sweet & sour sauce). It's not summer without rib "meat candy," slaw and cheesy corn dip.

#food Gumbo-inspired stew tonight! Roast turkey thigh meat, shredded, pork belly and chorizo, rendered, holy trinity, a medium roux (didn't want to take it all the way to super-dark this time), over white rice with parsley, smoked Maldon flakey salt, chipotle-lime hot sauce. Absolutely delicious!

I won't tell shaterri that we only solved this date a month ago and waited until June 7 to actually post the picture!! No one will ever know!!

Okay, @shaterri.bsky.social, here is today, my mother's birthday, and dammit, the only time we EVER managed to solve this thrice-cursed abomination. How dare you send us this time-gobbling finger fumble of a madness "puzzle"? Is there not enough frustration in the world?!

Shaterri's horrid date calendar puzzle that drives us all to distraction!

#food Made "Dubai" peanut butter squares layered with chocolate ganache, topped with flakey sea salt. The filling is PB mixed with butter-toasted phyllo shreds, powdered sugar and creamed honey. They have a crunch like a Butterfinger. Sinful. (Served on Social Tea, but better without it.)

Dubai "style" Peanut butter squares with chocolate ganache.Dubai "style" Peanut butter squares with chocolate ganache.

Made today: -Beef liver mousse -Oven-roasted green cabbage -Banana bread from scratch -Béchamel sauce (turned into a suprème by adding cream) Busy day. So far everything's come out delicious.

I love that my wife was so flustered trying to get out the door this morning, she shoved the peanut butter into the refrigerator. It wasn't even securely on a shelf, it was balanced on the edge, held up by the maple syrup jar.

Gosh I'm having bad luck with seafood. Bought a huge load of shrimp, but they were inedible. Bought some "flat vac pack" lobster meat (yeah, clearly tiny leg meat mechanically separated, process like a foil pouch of tuna), but it was also inedible. Got a can of crab meat defrosting, I'm scared.

Just deleted my "little forepaw wiggles" fox-on-a-slide video. Enough people have said it's "probably AI-gen" that I thought it best to simply pull it. Obviously it's getting harder and harder to spot, and I'm no expert. I feel deceived by the Internet (I know, shocker!), but that's life.

On this #TDoV26: My husband of 25+ years recently became my wife, and it's a HOOT. Some side-scrolling platformers have a level gravity reverses in spots, up is down, you have to learn to jump and land in whole new ways. It's like that, only with more giggling and opportunities for bad puns.
