Small detail I love about FFXIV is they add little lore explanations to stuff that doesn't need it. Paladin WoLs are so good at gaining emnity not from their knightly training, but because of their base training as a gladiator. Mylla and some of the other Gladiator NPCs make a note that -

I just saw the 45 mil gil mount from Occult Crescent, and I fucking need it. The reason? Exhibit A (and my only one, tbh.): This is my childhood stuffed animal.

The MSQ is from Rev's POV. They appear young because he still sees them as his babies, basically. When they grow up in the MSQ, it will be the day he blinks and realizes time has flown so fast.

Despite the fact that I like bullying Thancred, what I love most about him is his radical self-acceptance. He knows he's been rough around the edges, sometimes downright cruel, and has gone through emotional hell trying to become a better man. 1/2

Rev isn't often unkind, and is rather patient and optimistic about other people. That said, he is not fond of Thancred at all. 1/5
