Country lawyer (not really)

It‘s just insane to me that a sitting president has made MORE THAN A BILLION DOLLARS peddling fucking fairy dust with no intrinsic value beyond his stature and power AS president, and it’s not treated as the biggest corruption scandal in American history.

The Constitutional Crisis started in 2000. You've been living through it your entire adult life. The reason politics feels hopeless is by design — conservatives broke our democratic form of government to guarantee that the people cannot act against them and are continuing to break it.

Faulkner: "Sanctuary cities include Boston, Chicago, Denver, LA, NY, Philadelphia, SF. All of those airports handle 1,100 int'l flights per day. They're not just gonna not fly. They're gonna go to red states and cities. A boon for red states. People will just really hate living in blue states."

This is just a heavily coded way of saying that we need to throw certain groups (e.g., the trans community) under the bus. “College seminar” is the tell. This is not aimed at actual technocrats in the Democratic Party, who rely on consultant jargon.

Obama: "What I'm more interested in for Democrats is, do you know how to just talk to regular people like we're not in a college seminar? Can you talk in plain English to folks? And not have a bunch of gobbledygook around it. Just talk like normal people talk. 'The rent is too high.'"

the only kinds of artist who are not marketing creations: - prolific power pop bands comprised of total losers - rappers from michigan who rap so far off beat it loops around to technical proficiency - jazz musicians of any age who smell like old people - hardcore/metal bands who DO NOT lift weights

it really has become an enormous change, but I think our common presumptions "the purpose of society is to create a climate for me to satisfy my needs and wants, and we satisfy my needs and wants primarily through acquiring goods and services" would be Fucking Inscrutable to most people before 1900

My take on the big economic security debate is that the two sides are talking past each other. One side says “hey, you own so much great stuff” and the other says “but I don’t feel economically secure.”
