I don’t want main character energy. I don’t want secondary character energy. I want gone character energy. I want “heard he’s writing a novel somewhere in Puerto Rico or New York or Portugal or in a small cabin in the Pyrenees” energy. I want hermit ghost energy.

it isn't enought to know that in japan they don't do a three act structure. you need to understand what it means that *you* do, that *you* expect that to be the primary mode of storytelling, and why you ask certain questions of certain pieces and not others.

there is, I believe, a lot of discomfort found by people from the u.s. when, for example, magic exists without a system to it. when religion is not separated by clear lines. when ethnicity and belonging are not neatly segregated, but live side by side in a dialectical relationship

what if i do not want to be optimized. what if i want to make mistakes because that’s how you learn; what if i want to do nothing sometimes, what if i want a world that is weird and challenging and has mysteries left to reveal. what if i like taking the long way

transsexual community needs to develop a single word shorthand that means like “i understand you are being well intentioned but please do not say that fucking shit to me ever again. also you are okay and you’re good. i promise you’re good. you’re good. it’s okay. you’re good.”
