I edited a few more chapters today, up through chapter 6 of The Bonding. One of the biggest challenges is keeping the timing & locations of 4-5 different threads consistent. I don't want a GoT-style impossible march to pull off a plot point. #theavianage #fiction #writing

Hy'toom! That's the Orzelian word that would describe the new chapter I crafted today. Someone mentioned in a review of Whiterock that Tulivor needed more page time, & I agreed. I let the characters do their thing, & it came out more beautiful than I could have forethought. I hope my fans love it.

Fireflies and Penstemon digitalis, 2026 This is a real photo taken in my yard, made with many stacked 4-second exposures. In all, this photo represents about 8-10 minutes worth of firefly flashes in a small area. Several species are represented here.

A real photograph made of many stacked exposures of fireflies at night. In the foreground are white-blooming native penstemon flowers, with out of focus purple blue flag irises in the background. Hundreds of firefly flashes in hues from greenish yellow to orange are streaked across the photo.

Update on The Bonding. It's all written & I'm going through chapter by chapter, smoothing, editing, & preparing to pass it off to beta-readers. I just finished editing chapter 3! Still on track for release this fall.

I'll be at the Harbor Market tomorrow in Kenosha, Wisconsin, one of two featured authors at the booth of Studio Moonfall. It's a pretty sizable outdoor fair with lots of local food, wares, and goods. Come by and say hi & pick up autographed copies of my books! 9-2 at 2nd Ave & 56th. #furry #writer

On Mac, InDesign just works. Stays updated, behaves predictably, can keep open for weeks, instantly go to work whenever. Art missing, no prob, finds it. But on Windowsj, fucked by layers of manual updates, CC permissions, common-ass fonts missing... Enough to just say fuck it & stay on my laptop.

I made a list of all the art I'd like to do for The Bonding. 69 pieces. On one wing, woo-hoo, great number. On the other... how the hell am I gonna do even half of those? Or a quarter? *eagle eyes shrivel and fall out of my head*

"And the Seventh Aetus poured his book into the air and said, 'It is finished.'" I just completed the draft of The Bonding. Next step is to go back through it, flesh out some areas, and then it will go to beta readers. I think it's reasonable to expect it will be out by November. :>

For the seventh year I helped organize @furryest.org, the Estonian outdoor furry convention. We are able to create a magical experience for 180 attendees only thanks to staff becoming year by year more professional and successful at onboarding helpers. This success makes me a little proud!

I’m on closing paragraphs of The Bonding, but slowing down to tidy up worldbuilding stuff, standardize terms, formalize Mamyrskin conlang, other odds & ends. I really like this part. See progress (spoiler-free) on the official wiki: wiki.aetusart.com, but don’t be surprised if it changes.

Nice to be able to reach over from my kitchen chair, open the window, & snip off some basil when I need it. Also OMG this basil just doesn’t quit! It grows faster than I can eat it.
