My pitch to be president of FIFA: 1 day a year for transfers. I am so mind-numbingly bored of 6000 stories a day about this player or that player for 3 months. Isak last year. Vini this year. It goes on and on and on. It’s fucking boring. Cram it all into a single day. Job done.

While this is good news, there's no getting away from the fact that every one of these national associations should be ashamed of ever having supported the re-election of someone they knew to be totally unfit for office. They condemn themselves even as they condemn Infantino.

It's never too late to do the right thing, so Mr Lamour should be commended for his statement. But given he's witnessed concerning behaviour over "months" - he might have got more credit if this had been published before all the other rats started to desert the sinking ship.

In a week of incendiary statements, this from Kevin Lamour, who at least for tonight remains FIFA COO, is incredibly damning in that it is from an insider that goes beyond this one scheme and is an assassination in a few hundred words of the FIFA president as a leader of global football.

Watching sports journalists in full cry, chasing down each new story about the impending end of Infantino - someone who they've reported on for so long but has always seemed invincible - is a delight. "How does a king lose his kingdom?" "Two Ways. Gradually and then suddenly.

Another doff of the cap, by the way, to Martyn Ziegler. Must be pretty mad to sit at your computer for a bit and write an article, then 72 hours later UEFA are boycotting the World Cup.

“Football's future cannot be dictated by the expectations of those whose first duty is to maximise financial return,” really is a hell of a line from the people who brought you The Neverending Group Stage but can we all just let that slide for now?

According to @robharrisreports.bsky.social, Infantino is set on rushing the World Cup privatisation through. It's time for the national associations to stop 'monitoring the situation' and wade in. They must destroy this disgraceful plan - and end Infantino's corrupt misrule.

Trying to decide whether the worst person in all of sports is Gianni Infantino or Clicky Ponting.

Has anyone asked why each FA needs to get the same amount? Why is FIFA’s cash delivery system the same no matter the need of the FA? What for instance does for example the Guam FA do with $40m? This is clearly not a system fit for any genuine purpose. It simply allows the incumbent to lavish gifts.

On the FIFA story, must be said it's a hell of a scoop from Martyn Ziegler. Seems like publication has caught very much FIFA (and everyone else) off guard.

I know everyone's a bit busy with the whole "FIFA destroying football" thing but if we could all come together to end the despicable practice of graphics containing statements with centre-aligned text, that would be great as well.

Andrew Jennings will be spinning in his grave right now. Go and buy his books.

Honestly I think there's no chance UEFA breaks away from FIFA. The financial and legal ramifications are mind-boggling, it would be in court for 20 years. Suspect there's more chance a number of nations boycott the World Cup. It might only take one nation declaring to start a snowball.

It's easy just to see Infantino as a clown, an easy satire target, but he is a deeply dangerous threat to the future and essence of football who must be stopped and driven out of the game. He hates what we love, and vice versa
