The FCC has no authority to punish a station for refusing to air a blatantly political speech. This is a naked attempt to bully broadcasters, and the FCC should have no part in it.
The FCC just announced it will move forward with its unlawful effort to hand control of the public airwaves to billionaire buddies of this administration. This will destroy local newsrooms, silence community reporting, and drive-up costs for American families.

ABC is right on this one. You don't have to like their coverage to see the danger here. Handing government the power to decide what's newsworthy and which guests to feature is a threat to press freedom, no matter which party is in charge.

Stephen Colbert is a master of his craft. Through satire he made the machinery of power accessible and laughable in ways that cut deeper than any straight news report ever could. His voice will be missed, but I can't wait to see what he'll do next.
