FCC Commissioner Anna Gomez

FCC Commissioner. Latina-American. Communications attorney and tech nerd. Dog mom.

Protecting free speech and defending the First Amendment is not a partisan issue. There is clear bipartisan concern with how the FCC's targeting of ABC's local stations threatens the First Amendment rights of every broadcaster in this country.

The FCC just announced it will move forward with its unlawful effort to hand control of the public airwaves to billionaire buddies of this administration. This will destroy local newsrooms, silence community reporting, and drive-up costs for American families.

This administration keeps handing out Billionaire Buddy Bypasses to media giants racing to consolidate more of our media landscape while consumers and creators pay the price. That leaves Americans with fewer voices, higher prices, and less choice. variety.com/2026/film/ne...

States Sue to Block Paramount-Warner Bros. Merger, Defying DOJ

A coalition of states has sued to block the merger of Paramount and Warner Bros., though the Department of Justice approved the deal last month.

Democracy depends on a free press and the preservation of free expression through all communication technologies as much as it depends on a stable economy. The Supreme Court's decision puts at risk how Congress intended independent agencies to function in American democracy. 🧵

This administration keeps choosing their billionaire buddies over consumers. The FCC must conduct a rigorous, transparent review of the foreign investment in this deal so Americans know who really controls the public airwaves. No more billionaire buddy bypasses.

Disney and its ABC stations are the latest victims of this administration's campaign of censorship and control. I am glad to see them expose the FCC's actions as nothing more than naked political retribution and an unlawful assault on free speech and a free press. variety.com/2026/tv/news...

ABC Submits Broadcast Renewal Applications to FCC ‘Under Protest,’ Says Agency Order Is ‘Unlawful, Arbitrary and Unconstitutional’

Disney's ABC has submitted its license renewal applications to the FCC as ordered by the agency -- but it is doing so "under protest."

The "public interest" does not mean this administration's interests. Broadcasters should ignore these latest threats and stiffen their spine. Pushing back is the only thing that will stop this FCC from abusing its power to silence speech and punish independent reporting.

Stephen Colbert is a master of his craft. Through satire he made the machinery of power accessible and laughable in ways that cut deeper than any straight news report ever could. His voice will be missed, but I can't wait to see what he'll do next.

Stephen Colbert wrapped up his tenure as host of “The Late Show” with his most-watched show in more than a decade, drawing over 6.7 million viewers on Thursday.

The FCC is once again targeting an administration critic by mob rule. Let's not pretend this FCC hasn't already made up its mind. All they want is for their pro-censorship partisan allies to nod in agreement. My message to Disney: Don't flinch. Fight. deadline.com/2026/05/fcc-...

FCC Opens Up Public Comment On ABC's 'The View'

The agency is seeking comment on whether 'The View' is a news show and exempt from equal time requirements.

Disney's experience with the FCC has made one thing undeniable for any company facing the same pressure. You cannot buy this administration's favor. For the right price, you can only borrow it. And the price always goes up.

Exclusive: ABC has been a victim of a “sustained, coordinated campaign of censorship and control” by the Trump administration, FCC Commissioner Anna Gomez told Disney, the network’s parent company.

What Disney is facing is not a series of coincidental regulatory actions but a sustained, coordinated campaign of censorship and control. As I told their new CEO, the fight ahead may not be easy, but the law, the facts, and the public are on their side.

One year ago, this administration walked away from a bipartisan commitment to help connect every American, regardless of income, zip code, or language. You can't lead in AI with a workforce locked out of the digital economy. It is time to restore Digital Equity Act funding now.
