FCC Commissioner. Latina-American. Communications attorney and tech nerd. Dog mom.

With nearly half of Americans struggling to afford the cost of living, the Lifeline program is helping them get online and stay online. We must pursue fraud wherever the evidence leads, free from politics and without taking support away from law-abiding families who rely on Lifeline.

The FCC's sole defense is that its review was required by process. The court appeared skeptical, and rightly so. Threatening license revocation is an extreme step, basically a death sentence over a speeding ticket. I remain confident the First Amendment will prevail here

Disney is in court in DC right now, seven weeks after suing President Trump's FCC for violating the First Amendment. Judge Loren AliKhan is hearing arguments over Disney's request for a temporary restraining order to block Brendan Carr from further challenging ABC’s local station licenses...

Yet again a court steps in to defend a free press and uphold the First Amendment. But this fight isn't confined to newsrooms banned from the White House. The FCC has been going after the press for coverage it doesn't like. Courts should draw that same line when its turn comes.

FCC Commissioner Anna Gomez on Paramount-Warner Bros merger: “This settlement appears to pave the way for yet another massive media consolidation deal that could raise prices for consumers, reduce content diversity, and weaken editorial independence”

I'm disappointed this settlement appears to be yet another massive media consolidation deal that could raise prices for consumers, reduce content diversity, and weaken editorial independence. Here is what I'll be watching closely ⬇️🧵

This is now the second time in a matter of months that a late-night host has disclosed they had to bury an interview because of FCC intimidation. No host, local affiliate, or network should have to weigh federal retaliation before booking a guest for a newsworthy interview 🧵

Text of Gomez statement on Kimmel interview and FCC intimidation campaign

News coverage of a poll that doesn't favor a political party is not a license to meddle in an election through intimidation. Broadcasters should take note. Do not let a sad and desperate attempt to punish accurate reporting become an excuse for censorship.

This SCOTUS decision throws the midterm election into chaos. It allows the FCC to unleash a flood of dark money by letting a handful of wealthy donors pool unlimited contributions into political advertising. All this while forcing local broadcast stations to foot the bill ⬇️

BREAKING: An appeals court just moved to block the FCC’s plan to unleash new dark money spending on political broadcasting ads. This is a victory for transparency, the rule of law and for broadcasters who would've been asked to shoulder most of the costs of these dark money ads.

🚨In the final stretch of a national election, this FCC is helping unleash a flood of dark money into broadcast advertising. The American people should not have sweeping election-year rule changes forced on them in the dark and on the eve of an election. 🧵

It’s high time that we have a corporate parent like Disney show courage, stand up and push back against this administration’s overreach and constitutional violations. This should be a welcome sign for every broadcaster who has felt the weight of government pressure in silence.

I’m glad Disney has shown courage and stepped up. It is time this administration understands that the Constitution does not bend to political convenience, and that the First Amendment protects the news and commentary Americans see on their screens even when those in power wish it didn’t.

Eliminating the national broadcast ownership cap does not free local broadcasters from economic pressure, it just changes who's doing the squeezing. Trading a squeeze from Big Tech for a squeeze from Big Media does nothing to protect the communities this cap was designed to serve. 🧵

Protecting free speech and defending the First Amendment is not a partisan issue. There is clear bipartisan concern with how the FCC's targeting of ABC's local stations threatens the First Amendment rights of every broadcaster in this country.

The FCC just announced it will move forward with its unlawful effort to hand control of the public airwaves to billionaire buddies of this administration. This will destroy local newsrooms, silence community reporting, and drive-up costs for American families.

This administration keeps handing out Billionaire Buddy Bypasses to media giants racing to consolidate more of our media landscape while consumers and creators pay the price. That leaves Americans with fewer voices, higher prices, and less choice. variety.com/2026/film/ne...
