Checking out the first chapter of the detective manga Don't Call it Mystery. After hearing a police officer complain about how his daughter thinks he's smelly, our MC displays his eccentric deductive bona fides by springboarding into a multi-page tangent on evolutionary incest avoidance theories.

A bushy haired protagonist is seated across an interrogation table from a bald police officer. "Did you raise your daughter with love?" Secondary cop: "OH MAN, YOU READ HIM LIKE A BOOK. HE GOES TO ALL THE PTA MEETINGS AND GRADUATION CEREMONIES." "But she says your dirt and smelly...and demands that her laundry and yours are done separately, right. Does that make you angry?""It's not your daughters fault though. It's animal instinct. In the animal world...most children don't live with their fathers. So a child might grow up never meeting her father or knowing who he is. If they mate their children will be genetically predisposed to defects. That's why their genes send out a warning signal. Biologically your daughter is getting the message, "Don't mate with him." That's why she acts out.""It's not because she's a brat. Or because you really do stink. You said that you must have raised her wrong. But it's the opposite. You've raised her well. If you'd failed as a father, she'd be a daddy's girl clinging to you into adulthood and...she'd be wishing she could marry you. It's the same to with mama's boys. You might feel sad about the way things are but I think it just means that you've been a good father to her. So it's not that you did a poor job raising her. In fact, thanks to you she's going to grow up to be a fine young woman. I think that's wonderful."The cop leaves and says "This is creeping me out." "It's only a theory. And I think it's a pretty good one."

Couldn't find an audiobook available to me that I felt like getting into, so now I'm just rereading/listening to This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me again. Even more fun now that I know things to look out for lol. Guess this is without a doubt my fave Ilona Andrews book

Sometimes I run into scripts and it’s apparent that the translator (or could be editor changing it up) is having issues with panel order. Manga letterers rarely know Japanese and depend on panel order to get placement right. Go right to left on a page, and in each panel work from top down/right left

I don’t think I can sit through this season of house of the dragon cause I’m remembering now how sad it is to see each dragon go down. Like nah man, this is just so freaking depressing each ep now.
